LMH residents enjoying a pizza dip and action movie trivia at Men’s Club

Greetings from “The Home” front …

This first week of August was a busy one! On Monday we Remembered Songs about Summer then ChiChi and Emma made the cutest lemonade cart to deliver fresh squeezed lemonade to all of our residents. We were not able to have lemonade on the patio as previously planned because of Covid restrictions but everyone enjoyed the fresh squeezed taste as opposed to frozen lemonade. Later in the afternoon we got together to play The Write Word Game, a fill-in-the-blank game, and then in the evening there was Bingo. Tuesday brought Newscurrents in the morning followed by a resident favorite… the dice game Bunco. We also played Rummage Sale Detective – a cognitive game seeking out mentioned items. After Mass and Choir on Wednesday our Crafty Crafters got together to make greeting cards. Later in the afternoon, Molly went shopping for the residents. Pastor Deb was here for Bible Study on Thursday morning and then the ladies got their nails done during Pretty Nails. There was lots of hooting and hollering when the residents played Fly Swatter Ball later in the afternoon. That is always a fun event! There was also Bingo In the evening. We will have Communion during our Church service on Friday morning, a picnic for lunch, and then there is a special treat when we have Morgan Marie come and play her guitar and sing for us. This is Morgan’s first time with us but we certainly hope it won’t be her last!
Saturday brings Sit & Be Fit in the morning, plus Bingo and Jingo in the afternoon. We have Crosswords on Sunday and Lawrence Welk in the evening. Monday is a busy day with Down Memory Lane in the morning and a Garden Mushroom Demonstration in the afternoon. Molly (with the help of residents) will demonstrate how to make a cute solar light Garden Mushroom for your yard using a vase, bowl, and colored glass. We will be having a Resident Council meeting right after the demo and there will also be Bingo in the evening. It’s time for Show & Tell on Tuesday afternoon followed by Bunco. In the morning the coffee cart will be going around with beverages and treats and we will also have Newscurrents right before dinner. There is Mass on Wednesday morning and then Molly will show and talk about vintage costume jewelry. There is crafts in the afternoon and personal shopping for the residents. We have August Trivia on Thursday morning and then Pretty Nails and a Parachute activity. Hopefully the weather will still be nice and we can take the parachute outdoors. There is also Bingo in the evening. Friday brings church in the morning followed by TGIF Happy ½ hour. What a great way to end the week.
The various departments and staff members have been busy putting together cute silent auction baskets that will go up for bid at the benefit this weekend August 6th for our RN Jeanne Walden and her husband Chuck. I hope you will be able to attend this very worthwhile event at Norseman Hall starting at 5 p.m. There will be a free will spaghetti meal plus a silent and then a live auction of some super donated items. Looking forward to seeing you there.
We have a LOTS of staff and resident birthdays to celebrate this upcoming week… Happy birthday to Dawn Carter on the 8th, Jennifer Car, Hannah Ust, and Sylvia Straight all on the 9th, Jean Holter on the 10th, Sandra Abbas on the 12th, and Kyle Eken on the 13th. Residents Liz Hanson and Harriet Ulland will be celebrating on August 7th and Betty Dahl will be celebrating on the 12th. A very happy birthday to ALL of you!

Until next time … a thought for the week … No one ever injured their eyesight by looking on the bright side of life …
