Residents working hard on filling candy bags for Halloween Trick or Treaters. We are excited to see everyone in their costumes!

Greetings from "The Home" front

It’s almost Trick or Treat Time and we are ready to celebrate with you!!! The staff and residents at LMH and Sun Center Apts. are excited to have children come from 3:30 to 5 p.m. on October 31st to go trick or treating in our facility and at the Sun Center Apartments. We have been busy filling candy treat bags and the residents are excited to see the children in their costumes. Please join us and share in the fun!!! We look forward to seeing you on October 31st!
It's been a busy week here at “the Home”. Monday started out with a BOO word game and then residents and staff filled treat bags for the above-mentioned Trick or Treat children’s visit. There was Bingo in the evening. Tuesday brought Newscurrents and then Kitchen Capers in the afternoon. Lysa and ChiChi made a cute pumpkin treat for our residents to taste and enjoy. We also played a Left/Right story game. There was Down Memory Lane on Wednesday and Molly brought more of her “treasures” to talk about and the residents reminisced while looking at them. The ladies got their nails done at Pretty Nails in the afternoon and later on, ChiChi went personal shopping for the residents. It was a musical Thursday when we had Songs About Time in the morning and then lovely piano music and singing by Steve Worner in the afternoon. We also did a Scary Story Detective game and had Bingo in the evening. Pastor Deb was here for Church in the morning and then it was time for $$$ bingo with the American Legion/VFW in the afternoon. That is always a popular activity and we do appreciate the men and women who volunteer their time to come and play Bingo with us each month. We have Sit & Be Fit on Saturday morning followed by Bingo and Wheel of Fortune.

We start out Sunday afternoon with some brain games at 2 p.m. and then Lawrence Welk in the evening. Monday (October 31) will be a busy busy day!!! In the morning there is Halloween Trivia – did you know that there are 35 million pounds of candy corn made each year which amounts to about 9 billion pieces!!! In the afternoon it’s time for our Resident Halloween Party. There will be a costume contest, games and snacks for our residents and staff to enjoy. Following the Party, from 3:30 to 5 p.m. we hope to have several little trick or treaters visit our facility to receive Halloween treats from our residents. Plus, we have Bingo later in the evening. If everyone has recovered from Monday’s activities, we will have Newscurrents on Tuesday morning and Family Feud in the afternoon. There is Choir on Wednesday and then Crafts. Not sure what ChiChi and Molly have in mind, but am sure it will be a fun project. Pastor Deb is here for Bible Study on Thursday morning and the ladies will get their nails done in the afternoon. We are also playing Bunco later in the day and Bingo in the evening. Pastor Deb is back on Friday with Church and Communion and after dinner it’s time for TGIF – Happy ½ hour!!!

We will be saying good bye to one of our Housekeeping Staff on October 24th – Ashley Odden is leaving for new adventures on the east coast. Ashley has been with us for 5 years and we wish her all the very best!

We still do not have any resident October birthdays this week and only one staff member with an October Birthday – Leslie Zapata on October 31st. No November birthdays this week for residents or staff, so stay tuned for birthday wishes next week.

Until next time … a quote from Mark Twain ….”The two most important days in your life are the day you were born and day you find out why…”
