Greetings from “The Home” front …
We had some great singers on Sunday when Chi Chi was here for Karaoke! Lots of participation, so watch out America’s Got Talent – we’re on our way!! Monday brought fun brain teasers with Finish the Phrase in the morning and Jeopardy in the afternoon. We also had a going away party for Jennifer Almanza. Jenny has been a CNA here at LMH for 14 years. We wish her the best of love and luck in her next adventure. There was Bingo in the evening, so Monday was certainly a busy and fun filled day! On Tuesday there was Newscurrents in the morning and Snow Shovel races in the afternoon. We certainly need to shovel with all this snow we have been getting lately. Please tell Mother Nature to stop! The residents also learned some unusual animal facts later in the day. Did you know that a frog has a 360-degree visual range? Their eyes are positioned in such a way they can see everything around them. They also sleep with both eyes open – no wonder it’s so hard to catch them. There was Choir on Wednesday followed by Crafts in the afternoon. The residents made cute penguins to go with the snowmen they made last week. Staff also went shopping to fill resident requests. Pastor Deb was here for Bible Study Thursday morning and the ladies got their nails done at Pretty Nails in the afternoon. Later we played ZigZag Zoom which was a fun new game where teams take turns saying something that relates to given topics in alphabetical order; it was a great brain – and physical – exercise! That evening also brought us Bingo. We have church on Friday morning followed by Legion Bingo, we are looking forward to seeing some of our local Legion members! What a fun way to end the week and almost the end of the month. There are Snowman Races on Saturday plus Sit & Be Fit and Bingo.
Next week we start out with Crosswords on Sunday. We have January Trivia on Monday morning. Did you know on non-leap years, January always starts on the same day of the week as October? And in leap years, January starts on the same day of the week as April and July. In the afternoon we have a special treat (literally) when Chi Chi does a cooking demonstration of another one of her delicious Philippine treats. The schedule for February activities is not out yet but I know we will be having some fun filled days with plenty of activities for our residents to attend.
Our giant snowman finally has a name. The residents voted and “Sven” was the winning choice. So, we welcome “Sven” to our LMH family and activity room. Residents are able to get their picture taken with Sven and he also will be attending several of our parties and events.
There are no resident birthdays next week but we have two staff members celebrating. Susan Anderson on February 2nd and Shaunna Gienger on February 4th. Happy Birthday to both of you and enjoy your special day.
Until next time … a thought for the week … You may never know what results come of your actions, but if you do nothing, there will be no results …
