Greetings from “The Home” front …

We had lots of yummies in our tummies this week with our annual Christmas Cookie Sampler on Tuesday afternoon. There was a huge selection for our residents and staff to choose from. Thank you to the staff who participated by bringing cookies to share – we also had a few ladies from the community who donated cookies for us to enjoy. A special thank you to them also! It was a great success and we are looking forward to next year! We also wrapped up our resident Christmas picture photo shoot last week, they sure turned out nice and even some staff members snuck in to have their pictures taken!

On Monday we had Trivia in the morning, followed by Bunco, and Bingo in the evening. There was Newscurrents Tuesday morning and our Cookie Sampler in the afternoon. On Wednesday we took a special moment to remember Pearl Harbor and then it was time for Christmas Choir. During Crafts in the afternoon, the residents made cute reindeer ornaments for their rooms. ChiChi also went shopping for them – the residents, not the reindeer! During Reminisce on Thursday we talked about Gift Giving and the best and worst gifts we had received. The ladies got their nails done during Pretty Nails, and there was Bingo in the evening. Pastor Deb was here for church on Friday and then it was time for TGIF in the afternoon. We have Sit & Be Fit on Saturday (still working off those cookies!!), plus Bingo and 5 square using the letters TRIPS. Molly will be here on Sunday for crosswords.

Next week starts out with Santa’s Workshop Detective, Men’s Club in the afternoon, plus a Resident Council meeting and Bingo in the evening. Certainly a full and busy day! After Newscurrents on Tuesday it’s time for Kitchen Capers. Lysa and ChiChi will be making a delicious recipe for everyone to enjoy. Holiday reminiscing is on the agenda for Wednesday morning and in the afternoon, we will be crafting up a storm. Pastor Deb is here for Bible Study on Thursday, followed by Pretty Nails and Bingo in the evening. Pastor Deb is back on Friday for Church and then we have our meaningful Blue Christmas Program when we remember and honor our residents who have passed away this year.

Our annual Tree of Lights project is underway as well and we have received many generous donations from members of the community in memory of, in honor of, or as a greeting to former and current residents. If you are interested in honoring a loved one this holiday season, please contact our Activity Department or stop into LMH for a form to fill out.

As I mentioned last week – we do not have any resident birthdays for the rest of December! And only two upcoming staff birthdays – Francisco Smukalla on December 16 and Laura Miller on December 18th. Happy Birthday to both of you and enjoy your special day!

Until next time … a thought for the week …Love isn’t how you feel – it’s what you do …
