Greetings from "The Home" front
Here we are in our last days of August; we don’t know where the summer has gone, but we are soaking up the sunshine and summertime fun while we can!
Sunday brought us Karaoke with Chichi, lots of great songs and many great laughs were had by all. On Monday, we had Rhythm Band with Lysa in the morning and our Men’s Club learned some trivia about golf and other summertime sports. We also watched a video about a man who built a boat in his front yard! We rounded out the day with a fun game of volleyball and ended the evening with Bingo. Tuesday brought us another fun food event – Ohana Shaved Ice was parked outside LMH! We had a fun afternoon bringing their tasty treats to our residents. We also played one of our favorite games in the afternoon – Bunco. Father Bob Smith was here for Mass on Wednesday morning and then we had choir with Lysa. Our crafty crafters made a cute butterfly ring in the afternoon and then Chichi went shopping for our residents. Thursday started off with summertime trivia and the ladies got their nails done at Pretty Nails. We also played the State Plate game – a bean bag toss game with fun facts to learn about the states in the US. Pastor Deb led a Church Service on Friday morning and the Legion and VFW veterans were here for Legion Bingo, that’s always a great time! There is Sit & Be Fit on Saturday, followed by Bingo and a painting activity.
Next Sunday, we will play 5 square. We are starting Monday off with a reminiscing activity in the morning and having root beer floats in the afternoon. We will also play our floor Kerplunk game, I’m sure that will bring lots of laughs! We also have Bingo in the evening. Tuesday we have NewsCurrents and then a sightseeing van trip in the afternoon. Father Bob is back for Mass on Wednesday morning and then we have Name that Tune. Our residents will be making a craft in the afternoon and staff will go on our weekly shopping trip for residents. We look forward to having Tim Mosser come and sing for us on Thursday, he always does such a wonderful job! There is Church on Friday and then Pretty Nails in the afternoon, followed by games in the activity room. We have gotten quite the pinochle group started and it has been fun to learn from our residents!
We will celebrate the birthday of resident Carol Kost on the 28th. That rounds out birthdays for the rest of birthdays for August! Staff birthdays include Rachel Balstad on September 2nd and Carole Carpenter on the 4th. Happy birthday to you all and enjoy your special day!!
Until next time … a thought for the week …. “The highest love of all finds its fulfillment not in what it keeps, but in what it gives”.
