Greetings from “The Home” front …
I hope you all had a beautiful Thanksgiving with family and friends. It was nice to see many family members here to visit and some to even enjoy a meal with their loved ones on this special day of thanks. The kitchen staff outdid themselves with turkey, dressing, veggies and pie.
Molly was here on Sunday to play 5-Square with the residents using the letters T-H-A-N-K-S. We came up with some unusual names to go with those letters. We played an East/West game on Monday morning and in the afternoon, it was time for a lefse making demonstration with Lysa and ChiChi. They prepped the lefse so they could roll it out the next day. No Thanksgiving meal would be complete without lefse. There was Bingo later in the evening. Tuesday brought Newscurrents and in the afternoon, we rolled some lefse! Of course everyone got a chance to taste test the lefse. Pastor Deb led a pre-holiday church service on Wednesday morning and in the afternoon the crafty crafters made a Winter sign for their doors (alas even though Winter doesn’t officially start until December 21, I am afraid it is here to stay for a few months). There was Turkey Day Trivia on Thursday morning and we reminisced about the Macy’s Parade in the afternoon. Everyone got a chance to play Festive Fixing Detective later in the day and celebrate at Bingo that night. We have Down Memory Lane on Friday followed by Pretty Nails. Saturday brings Sit & Be Fit (to work off all those Thanksgiving treats) plus Bingo and Wheel of Fortune.
Molly will be here on Sunday to play crosswords. Monday starts out with Words in Words – a challenging mind game and we start out Christmas Decorating in the afternoon. There will be Bingo in the evening. We have Newscurrents on Tuesday morning followed by more Christmas Decorating and a Christmas movie for everyone to enjoy. Lysa will play the piano for Name That Tune on Wednesday and then the crafty crafters will make a Christmas craft project for their room. Pastor Deb will be here for Bible Study on Thursday morning and then we will make sure everyone is looking their best to start taking Christmas pictures. Friday brings church in the morning and we will finish up resident Christmas pictures in the afternoon.
We have one resident birthday to finish out the month of November – Kenard Knudson on November 30th. There are no staff members with November birthdays this week.
We have two staff members that are retiring at the end of the year. Carole Carpenter has worked as a CNA here at LMH for 8-1/2 years and her last day of work will be November 27th. Jean Holter has worked as a transport aide and other duties here at LMH for over 25 years. She will retire on December 8th. Best wishes to both of you and enjoy your next new adventure!
Our sympathy to the friends and family of Lorraine Olson who passed away Friday November 18. Lorraine was very active and came to all of our activities. She enjoyed playing the piano, music events and our word games. Rest in Peace Lorraine, you will be missed.
Until next time … a thought for the week …. Never be too big to ask questions and never know too much to learn something new. Make it a great week everyone!!!
