Greetings from “The Home” front …

I hope you all have been enjoying this beautiful fall season with the nice weather and gorgeous colors. Our Valentine King Merwin Lyng enjoyed riding in the Farmer’s Bowl Parade on Saturday and congratulations to the MSU Comets on their Football victory!
The activity room was sure rocking on Sunday when ChiChi was here for Karaoke. I think some of our residents and staff could win on “American Idol”!!! What a fun time!! Monday brought Rhythm Band in the morning and a fun categories game in the afternoon. We also had Bingo in the evening. After Newscurrents on Tuesday, we had a special event celebrating the upcoming birth of Baby Girl Eken – a baby shower for Mom & Dad Kayla and Jordan Eken. Kayla is our LMH social worker and Jordan works in our maintenance dept. They received some wonderful, useful and cute gifts from our residents and staff. All of us are anxiously waiting to see that new baby! We had Name That Tune on Wednesday morning and during Crafts in the afternoon the residents decoupaged spam cans to make a cute planter complete with paper flowers in fall colors. The planters will definitely add some color to the resident’s rooms. Autumn officially began on Thursday and we learned “All About Fall” at our afternoon activity. The ladies got their nails done at Pretty Nails and we played Bingo in the evening. After Church on Friday, it was time for $$$ Bingo with our friends from the American Legion/VFW. This is one event everyone looks forward to and we do appreciate these men and women who come once a month to play and visit with our residents. Saturday brings Sit & Be Fit, Bingo and Sticker Crafts.

Andrea will be here on Sunday for Jeopardy and there is Lawrence Welk to watch in the evening. After Newscurrents on Monday, the activity staff will be busy setting up for our Rummage Sale which will be on Tuesday. We have Choir on Wednesday morning followed by Crafts in the afternoon. ChiChi and Deb will be doing crafts while I am on vacation and I know they will have a fun craft project planned. Staff will be reading Short Stories on Thursday morning, then the ladies will get their nails done at Pretty Nails in the afternoon. We also have Bunco and Bingo later in the day and evening. After Church on Friday, we will be celebrating the last day of September will Happy ½ hour.

This past week was National Environmental Services week and we salute our staff members who work tirelessly to keep our facility looking spic and span. Thank you to all of our wonderful staff members, we couldn’t run this place without you!!!

There are no resident birthdays to finish out the month and only one staff birthday. Happy Birthday to our Director of Nursing Nancy Carlson whose birthday is September 28th. Make it a Great Day Nancy!

Our sincere sympathy to our Catholic Priest Father Bob Smith on the passing of his mother. Father Bob has gone to Florida for her service. May she rest in peace.

Until next time … a thought for the week …. A beautiful face will age and a perfect boy will change, but a beautiful soul will always be a beautiful soul.
