Greetings from “The Home” front …
I hope all of you had a fun and safe Labor Day – we sure did here at LMH! On Sunday, Molly and the residents tried their hands at a very difficult crossword puzzle. Who knew that another name for a ball of yarn was Clew!!! Molly was back on Monday as we learned the history behind Labor Day and also did some Labor Day Trivia. We played Finish the Song Titles and there was Bingo in the evening. Tuesday brought Newscurrets in the morning followed by Kitchen Capers and Pirate Detective in the afternoon. Lysa and ChiChi made mozzarella sticks, BBQ boneless wings, and mini corn dogs in the air fryer for the residents to taste test. Father Bob was here for Catholic Mass on Wednesday. Lysa played the piano for Choir and during Crafts the residents made a cute fall flower pot featuring sun flowers. Staff also went personal shopping for the residents. Pastor Deb led Bible Study Thursday morning and the ladies got their nails done during Pretty Nails in the afternoon. We also had Bingo in the evening. There is Church on Friday morning with Pastor Deb followed by TGIF Happy ½ hour. Andrea will be here for Sit & Be Fit on Saturday morning and we have Bingo in the afternoon. Andrea will also be doing some Fall decorating.
There will be a special remembrance activity on Sunday when we recall and talk about that fateful September 11th day in 2001. Where were you when that tragedy happened? On Monday we will read All About Grandparents and the Men’s Club will meet in the afternoon. There is also Resident Council later on and then Bingo in the evening. We have Newscurrents on Tuesday followed by Bunco and Jokes. Father Bob will lead a Catholic Mass on Wednesday and then it’s time for Down Memory Lane. Molly usually brings some of “good junk” to talk about with the residents. We have Crafts in the afternoon although I am not sure what the crafty crafters will be making. Our staff always comes up with some fun ideas! Staff will also go shopping for the residents. On Thursday there is a special musical treat when Pastor Martin Avery from Mayville Lutheran Church will perform for us. And there will be Bingo in the evening. Friday brings Church with Pastor Deb, Pretty Nails in the afternoon and visitations and games in the activity room.
The State Surveyors came and went last week. The surveyors were pleased and complementary about how well run LMH is, the positive attitude of staff members and willingness to help where and when needed. Congratulations on the smooth survey, everyone!
After the flurry of resident birthdays at the beginning of the month, we only have one left for the entire month. That is Stuart Mitchell on September 15th. However, we have a passel of staff members celebrating next week beginning with Kinsey Parker on September 10th, Monica Ellingson and Susan Kellett on September 14th, Skyyla Johnson and Abigail Frederick on September 15th, Kathy Gangelhoff, Janet Nielson and Omar Zapata on September 16th and last but not least Nancy Bjerke on September 17th. Happy Birthday to all of you and enjoy your special day!
Until next time … a thought for the week … Make sure your worst enemy doesn’t live between your own two ears …
