Greetings from “The Home” front …

Can you believe we are already starting October?! This summer really flew by and LMH is gearing up for all kinds of holiday festivities for the months to come.

On Sunday the residents enjoyed putting their trivia hats on with a fun round of Jeopardy. Monday brought NewsCurrents in the morning and then the activity staff was busy setting up a rummage sale in the activity room. We sure have a lot of goodies for the residents of LMH and tenants of Sun Center to browse, but no peeking until Tuesday! Because of the activity room was occupied with all the sale goodies, we moved our morning folding group to the chapel, residents thought that was a silly change of scenery for this helpful activity. The afternoon, we shopped ‘til we dropped! Not really, but everyone who came to look through the goodies sure had a fun time, and some people even came back more than once. Wednesday morning brought us hymns to sing at choir, an afternoon craft, and then staff went shopping for residents. Thursday, we started the day off with a short story about a moose and then the ladies had their nails painted at Pretty Nails. We finished off the day with Bunco in the later afternoon and Bingo in the evening. On Friday, Pastor Deb was here for church and residents enjoyed a fun and social time at Happy ½ Hour. Saturday brought us Bingo and Wheel of Fortune.

Sunday brings us another round of karaoke; so many people enjoy singing and picking fun songs. Monday starts our Oktoberfest celebration – we will be learning about the German traditions in the morning and then having a party in the afternoon, complete with decorations, delicious food, beer tasting, and games like a stein holding competition. Tuesday starts off with NewsCurrents and then in the afternoon, we will be having a going away party for Shelby Krueger, one of our LPNs, who is moving soon. We wish you the best of luck in all of your new adventures and we will miss you! We will play Name that Tune on Wednesday morning and then the crafty crafters will be creating a fun new fall decoration for their rooms. Staff will also go shopping on Wednesday afternoon. Thursday brings us Bible Study with Pastor Deb in the morning and then a special music guest, Dave Herzog, will be here to play his steel drums. That will be something different and interesting for us to listen to! We round the day out with some trivia and Bingo in the evening. Friday, Pastor Deb will be back for church and communion and we will be painting nails in the afternoon. Saturday is another round of Bingo and a Fall Fiddler Detective game.

In addition to all the festivities planned next week, we have a few October birthdays to celebrate – residents Ron Hanson on October 1, Sandy Braaten on October 2, Florence Syvertsen on October 4, and Truman Thykeson on October 5. Staff members Nikki Onerheim on October 2, Jessica Moch on October 3, and Jason Holkesvig on October 5. Happy birthday to all of you and we hope you have a great time celebrating!

Until next time … a thought for the week …. Act as if what you do makes a difference. It Does.
