Greetings from “The Home” front …

Wow – it is the last week of March – where does the time go!!! We made it a memorable week with lots of fun activities. Molly was back from vacation on Sunday to lead a dedicated group of residents in a very difficult crossword puzzle. The questions really had us thinking – one question was Who are the Norse goddesses of Fate. As fate would have it – we had a visitor who knew the answer! They are known as norns!

A special thank you to Lysa Wright who wrote this column while I was gone enjoying the sunshine in Las Vegas. Lysa did a great job and lives up to her last name!

On Monday we reminisced about outdoor activities and then played a Spring Thaw game followed by Bingo in the evening. Tuesday brought Newscurrents in the morning and a chance for our residents to find a treasure (or not) when they went fishing in our Fish Pond. We also played Bunco later in the day. Lysa sang and played for Name That Tune on Wednesday and in the afternoon our creative crafters made cute hop up Easter critters. Staff also went shopping for our residents. Andrea had everyone laughing when they tried to say some of our Tongue Twisters during our morning activity. In the afternoon there was special music by Tim Mosser in the dining room. It is so wonderful to be able to have outside musicians come and play for us again. Tim does a great job as an entertainer and had everyone clapping and tapping their toes. We also had Bingo in the evening. We didn’t have too many April Fools jokes on Friday – thank goodness. Father Bob led Catholic Mass on Friday morning followed by Pastor Deb who led our Protestant church service that included communion. The ladies got their nails done at Pretty Nails in the afternoon.

We start out next week with Karaoke with Chichi at 2 p.m. on Sunday – we always get a big turnout for that fun event! On Monday there is Newscurrents, then Show & Tell plus Musical Balls and Bingo in the evening. We will set up for our Mini Rummage Sale on Tuesday and then Paul Swanstrom will entertain in the afternoon. We have our rummage sale on Wednesday – what a great time for our residents (and staff) to pick up some good bargains. On Thursday Pastor Deb will be here for Bible Study and we will have an Easter Bonnet Parade in the afternoon. Plus Bingo in the evening. We have Mass, Church and Pretty Nails planned for Friday.

We were saddened by the passing of resident Irene Lindstrom on March 26th. Irene enjoyed listening to music, watching TV and sitting outside in the sunshine. Rest in Peace Irene.

We have on resident birthday next week – Richard Snortland on April 6th. There are several staff members having birthdays – Maria Klabo and Danielle Kath on April 1st, our Activity Director Lysa Wright on April 4th; and Leticia Clagg and Kenew-Kiew Oshkosh on April 6th. Becky Moen has her birthday on April 8th. Happy Birthday to all of you and enjoy your special day!

Until next time … a thought from the week from Ronald Reagan … We can’t help everyone but everyone can help someone ….
