Greetings from "the Home" front …
March is National Professional Social Worker Month - we are blessed here at LMH to have two wonderful Social Workers - Jessica Nelson and Laura Rasmussen. They are the link between residents, families and staff. They both work hard to help everyone and truly care for our residents. Thank you for doing such a great job!
We were busy this week in activities. There was newscurrents on Monday morning and then at Kitchen Cappers in the afternoon the residents made "bird nests" from cornflakes, peanut butter and butterscotch chips and decorated with Cadbury chocolate mini eggs. They were almost too cute to eat, but tasted Oh so good! After Kitchen Cappers we needed Sit & Be Fit on Tuesday morning to burn off those candy calories! We had some good old fashion music at Rhythm Band later in the afternoon. Mary and her gang of quilters were here on Wednesday - they (and our residents) are working on another fun project. This has been a very popular activity and we are very appreciative of Mary and her friends for coming so frequently to spend time with us. We also had Bunny races on Wednesday afternoon - there was lots of laughing and cheering for the various "bunnies". As a disclaimer - these were not real bunnies and no bunnies were injured in the event!!! There was reading on Thursday morning, followed by pretty nails and bunco. Luther Memorial Home staff and board of directors presented its annual meeting. We had church on Friday morning and the American Legion/VFW were here in the afternoon to play "real" bingo. Our residents always look forward to this activity and again we thank the men and women of the Mayville Legion/VFW for spending a Friday afternoon with us. Molly will be here on Saturday for Down Memory Lane - she will be showing some vintage Easter items and reminiscing with our residents. There is also Kaffee Hus and our Saturday movie matinee is The Beverly Hillbillies - that was always such a funny program with Jed, Jethro, Elly Mae and Granny!!! They got into so many adventures every week!
Next week there is newscurrents on Monday morning and Card & Board games in the afternoon. The Auxiliary birthday party is Tuesday afternoon. Immanuel Lutheran Church is the hostess this month. Wednesday brings Name That Tune in the morning and quilting with Mary in the afternoon. We celebrate Maundy Thursday with Communion on Thursday morning and then will be dyeing Easter eggs in the afternoon. We will have Good Friday services on Friday morning and pretty nails and happy 1/2 hour in the afternoon.
We have two resident birthdays next week: Cathy Holweger on March 27th and Lucille Weil on March 28th. Two Sun Center residents are also celebrating birthdays - Junice Berg on March 25 and Sandra Martz on March 25th. We finish out the month with three staff birthdays: Shelby Krueger (March 24), Elaine Aune (March 27) and Erica Baldock (March 29). Happy Birthday to all of you and enjoy your special day.
Our sincere sympathy to staff members Julie Johnson and Vickey Johnson on the passing of Willis Johnson. Willis was Julie's husband and Vickey's brother. May he rest in peace and may you both find comfort surrounded by friends and family.
Until next time … a thought for the week … Happiness cannot be traveled to, owned, earned or worn. It is the spiritual experience of living every minute with love, grace and gratitude …
