Greetings from “The Home” front

We had another busy week here at LMH with lots of fun activities.

Monday, after newscurrents, several residents enjoyed a special meal of Liver & Onions! This was a request made during the Food Committee meeting. And judging from the number of residents who signed up, it is a very popular meal!!! Later we played bunco and then bingo in the evening. We started out Tuesday with Sit & Be Fit and then Rhythm Band in the afternoon. We had help during rhythm band with the SOS students from Mayville State who came to visit and “hang out” with our residents. There was lots of moving and shaking going on! There was choir on Wednesday morning and in the afternoon, the residents made Thanksgiving greeting cards during crafts. We also played Hula Hoop Dice! It was a fun game and everyone enjoyed themselves. The Peter Boe 3rd Graders were here on Thursday for a visit with their “adopted” grandparents. Then later in the afternoon the Valley Music Makers came for a special musical event. We also had bingo in the evening. After mass and church on Friday, the van took several veterans to MPCG for the Veterans Program there. While they were gone, many of our ladies got their nails done at Pretty Nails. On Saturday, there is 5 Square at 2 p.m. in the activity room and Kaffee Hus from 2-3:30 in the dining room. Our Saturday movie matinee is “The Best of Dean Martin”. He had such a nice voice and this video highlights his many hits.

Pam will be here with her guitar on Sunday afternoon for a sing-a-long at 2 p.m. We have our special Veterans’ Program on Monday at 2 p.m. Larry Young will be our guest speaker, plus the MPCG Color Guard and the American Legion/VFW auxiliary will be serving a lunch afterward. This is always an impressive program. On Tuesday it is Sit & Be Fit in the morning and Rhythm Band in the afternoon. We welcome back Mary Peterson and her gang of quilters on Wednesday afternoon. They will be here to work with our residents on a new crafting project. We are so happy to have them here again this year – THANK YOU for all your help! It is a busy Wednesday with Name That Tune in the morning and also resident council in the afternoon. There is Bible Study on Thursday morning with Pastor Dianne and then the residents will be making Thankful Posters to be displayed in the activity room and hallway. We are also playing Pin the Feather on the Turkey! It’s mass and church on Friday along with pretty nails and happy ½ hour in the afternoon.

There were no resident or Sun Center birthdays this week but two staff members are celebrating theirs – Linda Knudsvig on Novemer 10 and Christian Cantore on November 11th. Happy Birthday to both of you and enjoy your special day.

The Activities Department is looking for an on-call activity assistant. If you interested in more information on the position, call Lisa Nelson or Adam Edwards at 786-3401.

Until next time … a thought for the week …There are no traffic jams along the extra mile …
