Greetings from “The Home” front …

What a glorious week we had with lots of activities! Monday, after Newscurrents, the van took several residents around town to see the sights and out in the country to see the crops. There is always talk about who lived where and what stores used to be in a certain place. The men like to see how the crops are growing. There was also Bingo in the evening. Gran Lutheran Church hosted our Auxiliary Birthday Party Tuesday afternoon after Sit & Be Fit in the morning. Good thing we did our exercises because the Gran Ladies provided a delicious dessert of ice cream and donuts. A quartet of Gran men provided the entertainment and they sounded great. Nancy played the piano for Name That Tune on Wednesday and in the afternoon the ladies got their nails done. The weather was nice so we had sodas on the patio. OH MY – Thursday was quite a day! We gambled a little bit during Blackjack in the morning but it was the afternoon that brought laughter, cuddles and hugs. Activities staff hosted a Petting Zoo! Special thanks to everyone who brought their favorite pets. There was also Bingo in the evening. After Mass and Church on Friday morning, the residents enjoyed a picnic dinner in the shelter and then the American Legion/VFW were here for $$$ bingo. That is always a popular event and the residents look forward to it. Flower arranging is on the schedule for Saturday – hmmm sound like fun and there is also Wheel of Fortune in the afternoon. Maybe Pat & Vanna will be here – who knows. If so, I would certainly invite them to Kaffee Hus which is from 2-3:30 on both Saturday and Sunday in the dining room. We will be playing a dice game on Sunday at 2 p.m. in the activity room. We are closing out the month of July in fine style – Monday brings Newscurrents in the morning and a shopping trip to Dollar General in the afternoon. The residents enjoy getting out to do some retail therapy and see what is new in the store. Other residents will be playing cards and there is Bingo in the evening. It’s Sit & Be Fit on Tuesday morning and Rhythm Band in the afternoon. Mark your calendar for WEDNESDAY – we are having another great RUMMAGE SALE! From 10:30-3 p.m. Lots of great bargains – stop by and see what you can fine! Pastor Diane will be here for Bible Study on Thursday morning and we have two more fun events planned for the afternoon – Bunco and Norwegian Golf! Friday brings Mass and Church in the morning and Pretty Nails and Happy ½ hour in the afternoon.

We have two resident birthdays next week –Deanna Marks and another resident, both on July 29th. I missed Sun Center resident Jean Brustad’s birthday which was July 18th. Sorry Jean – hope it was a nice day for you. Mary Baldock who lives in Sun Center also has her birthday on July 29th. That a popular day! Ken Brustad (another Sun Center resident) has an August 1st birthday. Several staff members will be celebrating birthdays this last part of the month – Rahni Smith on July 28th, Sharon Domier and Abbie Beck on July 30th and Kyle O’Brien on July 31st. Staff member Shayla Fossum starts out the month with an August 2nd birthday. Best wishes to all of you and enjoy your special day!

Until next time … a thought for the week … you may not be able to take of a person’s business need, but you can always meet their human need of someone to care …
