Greetings from “The Home” front …

Well, it looks like you have finally been getting some decent weather and that I brought the soppy soggy rain to Washington state with me! The van was able to take residents sightseeing on Monday afternoon while others played cards. Before bingo in the evening we played a rousing game of noodle ball – that is so much fun!! There was lots of laughter and giggling! Tuesday brought sit & be fit in the morning and Nancy was here for rhythm band in the afternoon. Nancy also played for choir on Wednesday morning and the residents made a September collage and painted leaves during crafts in the afternoon. A special thank you to Amy Nelson and bringing her food truck to our residents and staff on Wednesday, the food was great! Pastor Dianne led bible study Thursday morning and in the afternoon we played Bunco. We also enjoyed Happy ½ hour before going to supper. Father Bob led mass and Pastor Diane conducted protestant services on Friday morning. The ladies got their nails painted at Pretty Nails and then it was time for the corn hole challenge. Elaine will be doing reading on Saturday and playing bingo in the afternoon. There is Kaffee Hus from 2-3:30 on both Saturday and Sunday in the dining room and we also have a 3 p.m. movie matinee in the activity room.

Fall begins on Monday the 23rd (really????)and there is newscurrents in the morning and another van trip planned for the afternoon. Some of the residents will be playing cards and we also have an interesting topic to discuss later on entitled Make a Wish – if you could wish for anything what would it be??? The Auxiliary Birthday Party is Tuesday with Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church as the hostess. Our Very Special County Fair is on Wednesday - and you are invited to join the fun – we will have games, food and wonderful displays of canned goods, handicrafts, baked goods, photography exhibits and everything else that reminds you of an old fashioned down home fair! We hope you can stop by at 2 p.m. and join in the fun. Also of special note is a balloon twisting demonstration by Nancy Bjerke. It is amazing what animals she can make with balloons! There is bingo in the evening. We have Name That Tune on Thursday morning followed by crafts in the afternoon. We also have our annual meeting on Thursday at 2 pm in the chapel. It must be getting close to the end of the month as the American Legion and VFW will be here for $$$ bingo on Friday afternoon. Of course there is mass and church in the morning.

If you are a veteran and have not had your photo taken for the fabulous veteran’s display, Ron Jacobson from Jacobson’s Studio will be here on October 2nd to take photos of our LMH residents and Sun Center tenants who have served in the armed forces. Please contact Lisa in activities for information and times available.

We have one resident birthday next week –on September 21. Sun Center resident George Brustad has his birthday on September 23rd and we have several staff members having birthdays next week too. Courtney Savage and Gregory Pruneda on September 22, Mason Hart on September 25 and Megan Knudsvig on September 27th. Happy Birthday to all of you and enjoy your special day!

Until next time I will share a message I read on a billboard on my way to Washington – instead of pointing a finger why not give a helping hand … Make it a great week!
