Greetings from ‘ the Home’ Front …

We started out this sunny week with newscurrents on Monday morning and then Card & Board games in the afternoon. Resident Kim Plank gave a very interesting presentation on Gunsmithing later in the day. There was bingo in the evening. On Tuesday we had a good workout at Sit & Be Fit, followed by the Auxiliary Birthday party hosted by Aurdal Church. The ladies served Dixie cups with a sugar wafer and for entertainment Pastor Karen played her violin. Nancy was here for choir on Wednesday morning and then Mary and her gang came in the afternoon with a new project for the residents to work on. Elaine did reading Thursday morning and at Kitchen Cappers in the afternoon the resident cooks made Peanut Butter Banana Delights – OH YUM! They tasted just as good as the name sounds! There was still time for Bunco later in the afternoon and bingo in the evening. It’s Mass and then Church on Friday morning. We will be honoring long time RN Dawn Sparrow at a retirement party on Friday afternoon from 2-3 p.m. Please stop by, have some cake and wish Dawn the best on her much deserved retirement. We have a City History Bee on Saturday featuring Portland history, then bingo and Kaffee Hus in the afternoon. Bingo is at 2 p.m. in the activity room and Kaffee Hus is from 2-3:30 in the dining room. We also have a Saturday movie matinee at 3 p.m. The title is a surprise so come and find out!!

We have a special event on Sunday at 2 p.m. in the chapel when the No Name band comes to perform for us. They have been here before and really put on a great concert – we are looking forward to having them back.

We are going all out to celebrate April Fool’s Day on Monday. There is newscurrents in the morning and then an Ice Cream Sundae Bar for everyone to enjoy in the afternoon. Elaine will entertain us with April Fool’s Jokes later on and there is bingo in the evening. Nancy is here for rhythm band on Tuesday and we also will be doing our Sit & Be Fit exercises in the morning. Nancy is also playing the piano for Name That Tune Wednesday morning and our crafty ladies (and men!) will be making a paper scrap rabbit door hanging during crafts. There is Bible Study with Pastor Diane on Thursday morning and Easter Bunny Races in the afternoon. The Men’s Club will also meet to play Black Jack and there is bingo in the evening. Friday brings Mass, Church, pretty nails and happy ½ hour.

Just a reminder to mark your calendars, Luther Memorial Home will be honoring our volunteers on Tuesday, April 9th with a Volunteer Recognition Luncheon, please RSVP by April 3rd at 786-3401. Thank you to all that have volunteered at LMH this past year!

We have one resident birthday next week and I’m not fooling –Gregor ‘JR’ Useldinger has his birthday on April 1st. Three staff members also have April 1st birthdays – Maria Klabo, Lindsay Bloms and Danielle Klath. Staff member Asha Gallagher has her birthday April 3rd.

The flu and an upper respiratory infection have been going around the community so we would like to remind everyone one as much as we enjoy your visits with your friends and family members – if you have a cough, runny nose and/or just plain not feeling well – please wait until you feel better before coming to visit. Thank you for your co-operation.

Until next time … a thought for the week … Aspire to inspire before you expire …
