Greetings from “The Home” front …

What a great concert we had last Sunday by the “No Name Band” – the chapel was filled and the band put on a great show –Thanks again for coming and please come back soon!

There was newscurrents on Monday morning and a FunDay Sundae bar in the afternoon – ice cream with a variety of toppings and additions. Later we listened to April Fool’s jokes and then played bingo in the evening. After those sundaes we needed Sit & Be Fit on Tuesday morning and Nancy played the piano for Rhythm Band in the afternoon. In the evening Riverside Velcomen Life Group was here and played games with the residents and tenants of Sun Center, thank you. The residents Named That Tune Wednesday morning and then the crafty women (and men!) made a decoupage bunny door hanger during crafts in the afternoon. Pastor Diane was here for Bible Study on Thursday and we had Easter Bunny Races later on. At Men’s Club the men played blackjack. There was bingo in the evening. Friday brought Mass and Church in the morning followed by pretty nails and happy ½ hour. On Saturday we have reminisce at 10:30 and bingo in the activity room at 2 p.m. There is also Kaffee Hus from 2-3:30 on both Saturday and Sunday in the dining room. Mayville Lutheran will be entertaining us with a musical event on Sunday at 2 p.m. in the chapel.

Next week the food committee meets at 10 a.m. on Monday then we have newscurrents, along with card and board games and Easter trivia. Tuesday is our Volunteer Recognition Luncheon. It is our way of saying “Thank You” to the members of the community that have given their time to benefit our residents. We couldn’t do all the things we do here at LMH without the help of volunteers. All of you are greatly appreciated. Also on Tuesday is Sit & Be Fit in the morning and then Rhythm Band in the afternoon. There is resident council on Wednesday morning and in the afternoon the Peter Boe 3rd graders will be here to visit their “adopted” grandparents – it has been a long time since we have seen them due to the flu season in the community. It will be fun to have them back again for a visit. Thursday brings reading in the morning and another great musical concert – this time by the 2nd Wind Band at 1:30 in the dining room. Some of our residents will try their luck at bowling later in the afternoon and there is bingo in the evening. It is Mass and Church on Friday and then in the afternoon at Kitchen Cappers the residents will be making a Spam Salad -if that doesn’t bring back memories! We also have pretty nails later in the day.

We have a special addition to the lounge area near the dining room in Sun Center – a large American Flag with an impressive stand. This was given in memory of Russell Gilbertson by his family. Russ’s wife, Barb Gilbertson, is a resident of Sun Center. Thank you for such a patriotic gift for everyone to enjoy.

There are two resident birthdays next week both on April 12th – Dorothy Enger and Hilma Hovde. Three staff members are also celebrating birthdays – Leticia Clagg and Kenew-Kiew Oshkosh on April 6 and Becky Moen on April 8th. Happy Birthday to all of you and enjoy your special day!!!

Until next time … a thought for the week … Now and then it is good to pause in our pursuit of happiness and just be happy …
