Greetings from “The Home” front …
We stayed busy the last few days of July with Newscurrents on Monday morning followed by a trip to Dollar General in the afternoon. Judging by the number of packages on the van back to LMH it looks like our residents had a fun shopping trip. While some of our residents were enjoying retail therapy others stayed at LMH and played cards. There was also bingo in the evening. We had Sit & Be Fit Tuesday and then Rhythm Band in the afternoon. Other residents also helped set up for our rummage sale in the chapel. I hope you had a chance to stop by on Wednesday to treat yourself to a few bargains – we had a good supply of clothing and treasures! We also had a musical performance by vacation bible school children form Ebenezer Church. We always enjoy their music thank you. Pastor Diane led Bible Study Thursday morning and then we had a rousing game of Bunco in the afternoon. Some of the residents ventured outside for a game of Norwegian Golf! And of course, there was bingo in the evening. After Mass and Church on Friday there was pretty nails and Happy ½ hour. Saturday brings Reminisce in the morning and Bingo in the afternoon. There is always Kaffee Hus from 2-3:30 in the dining room. Stop in and treat yourself to a cookie, a bar or even a piece of pie. The coffee pot is on and there are lots of residents looking for conversation.
Ila Peterson will be here on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. for a musical performance in the chapel. This young lady plays the ukulele and is a wonderful performer. On Monday morning there is Newscurrents and then a sightseeing trip around the area in the afternoon. We will also be playing cards and having bingo in the evening. It’s time for Sit & Be Fit on Tuesday morning and Rhythm Band later on. Nancy will be playing the piano for choir Wednesday morning and then we have a special treat (literally!) planned for Wednesday afternoon. A pasta cooking demonstration will be done by LeeAnn Strand using zucchini and a spirilizer! With all the zucchini that abounds this time of year, it is fun to see what special meals can be prepared with it – other than making zucchini bread! But for the Zucchini bread lovers out there, we will also have 5 different flavors of zucchini bread to taste. The residents will be studying about Hillsboro on Thursday morning – this is part of our North Dakota City History program. OH MY – in the afternoon the activities staff has planned a Squirt Gun Painting class. I have seen this done before and the paintings actually turn out very creative! Some of the residents will also be playing Frisbee. There is bingo in the evening. We have Mass and Church on Friday morning followed by Pretty Nails and Mini Golf on the Patio. Sounds like a fun week!
We have three resident birthdays next week – Esther Slaughter on August 4th; Harriet - and Margaret Nelson on August 7th. Wow – there are lots of staff birthdays too … Genelle Dale (Aug.3rd), Nicole Sylskar and Austin Urlaub (August 4th), Lindsey Fenske-Goodman and Kristine Fastner on August 6th; Dawn Carter (August 8th) and Jennifer Carr, Marylou Jacobson and Sylvia Straight all on August 9th.
