Greetings from “The Home” front …
Well we finished out the month of May in fine style with lots of activities! Monday there was Newscurrents and a special Memorial Day Tribute. We had asked residents and staff to write “what Memorial Day means to me” and these were read during our tribute. In the evening the residents played bingo. After Sit & Be Fit on Tuesday it was time for the Auxiliary Birthday party hosted by Valley Free and Bang Churches. They provided a lovely program honoring our May resident birthdays, Leonard and Betty Wahl were on hand and entertained us with their music, and, of course, served a yummy ice cream. Nancy had the residents singing with choir on Wednesday morning and then Molly led craft time with everyone making 3-D cat pictures. They turned out so cute and brought lots of smiles. On Thursday morning we had a bean bag toss and then some of the residents ordered their noon meal from the Dakota Boys Restaurant. Our meals here at “The Home” are good but it is always fun to “order out” once in a while. Later, some of the residents went on the van for a sightseeing trip out to Golden Lake area to check out the fields. Other residents spent time on the patio. It was Mass and Church on Friday morning followed by pretty nails and happy ½ hour. We also had our first “real” picnic out in the picnic shelter. Saturday it’s June 1st already! Only 208 days until Christmas! On Saturday Pam was here for music in the afternoon. The residents did crossword puzzles in the morning and also spent time having coffee in the activity room. There is also Kaffee Hus from 2-3:30 on both Saturday and Sunday in the dining room. We would like to welcome our new Kaffee Hus attendant – Francisco Smukalla - stop in and say “Hi” to Francisco who is a student at MSU.
Next week we start out with Newscurrents in the morning followed by cards and a van trip in the afternoon. There is also bingo in the evening. We have Sit & Be Fit on Tuesday morning and then Rhythm Band in the afternoon. Nancy will be playing the piano for Name That Tune Wednesday morning and my favorite game is scheduled for the afternoon – BUNCO!!! I can hear that bell ringing already!! Elaine will be reading on Thursday morning and then Pam will be here to help the residents decorate hats to wear outside in the (hopefully) sunshine. We will put those hats to good use when we have lemonade on the patio at 3:30. Friday brings Mass and Church in the morning and pretty nails and happy ½ hour in the afternoon.
