Greetings from “The Home” front …
WOW! These last few days have been lovely – maybe Spring is actually on its way! Hope you have been enjoying the beautiful sunrises and sunsets – they are spectacular!
What a treat we had on Monday afternoon when Nancy and the residents played bells. Such a great sound! Earlier in the day we had newscurrents in the morning and card and board games in the afternoon. Tuesday brought Sit & Be Fit and Rhythm Band. Music is such an important part of our activities and the residents certainly enjoy those events – it is nice to have good musicians on our staff and the volunteers who come to play for us. Spring Began on Wednesday – although I’m still not convinced! We had Name that Tune in the morning and then Mary and her gang were here in the afternoon. It is good to have them back as they were unable to come last week due to the weather. They are working on another cute project. There was Bible Study Thursday morning with Pastor Dianne and then many of the residents ordered their noon meal from Paula’s Restaurant. While the food here at LMH is tasty (thanks to Stacy and the kitchen staff) – it is always fun to “order out”. The ladies got their nails done in the afternoon and the men played a dice game at men’s club. We had bingo in the evening. Friday brings Mass and church in the morning followed by Money Bingo with the American Legion/VFW in the afternoon. The residents always look forward to this activity. On Saturday we have reading, brain games and Kaffee Hus. Denise will be here on Sunday at 2 p.m. to play 5 square – it’s a word association game and lots of fun. There is always Kaffee Hus from 2-3:30 in the dining room on both Saturday and Sunday.
We have newscurrents on Monday morning followed by card and board games in the afternoon. Later, one of our residents, Kim Plank, will give a talk on gunsmithing. Kim is a veteran with considerable knowledge on that topic. After Sit and Be Fit on Tuesday, it’s time for the Auxiliary Birthday Party honoring our residents with March birthdays. Aurdal Church is the host this month. We have choir on Wednesday morning and then Mary and gang will be back again for crafting and quilting. Elaine is here for reading Thursday and at Kitchen Capper in the afternoon, the residents are making Peanut Butter Banana Delight – OH MY!!! They will also be playing bunco later in the afternoon. Thursday afternoon is also Luther Memorial Homes Annual Meeting at 2 pm in the Chapel, All are welcome. Friday brings mass and church in the morning and a retirement party for Dawn Sparrow in the dining room from 2-3pm. Hope you can make it!
We have one resident birthday next week – Cathy Holweger on March 27th. There are two Sun Center residents with birthdays – Junice Berg on March 25 and Sandra Martz on March 26th. Staff member Shelby Krueger has her birthday March 24th, Elaine Aune on March 27th and Erica Baldock on March 29th.
We were saddened by the passing of three of our residents recently – Lloyd “Sonny” Miller on March 13, Ardell Meberg on March 16, and Connie Strand on March 19th. Sonny was with us briefly but enjoyed listening to music, watching TV and visiting with family and staff. Ardell was a long-time resident of the Sun Center Apts and had just recently moved to LMH – she enjoyed many of our activities and socializing with friends. Connie enjoyed the musical activities, listening to devotions read by our staff, and visiting with friends and family Rest in Peace Sonny, Ardell and Connie – you will be missed.
Until next time … a thought for the week …There are no limits to what you can accomplish except by the limits you place on your own thinking …
