Greetings from “The Home” front …
There was a nice turnout on Sunday when Pam sang and played her guitar. The residents recognized many of the hymns she played and sang along. Monday brought Newscurrents in the morning followed by Cards, Kitchen Cappers and Men’s Club in the afternoon. At Kitchen Cappers the residents made fudge in a bag – what a fun & yummy treat. We also had bingo in the evening. It was Sit & Be Fit Tuesday morning – we needed that after eating the fudge! There was plenty of toe tapping at Rhythm Band in the afternoon. Nancy played the piano for Name That Tune Wednesday morning and then it was time for my favorite game – Bunco! I am practicing my bell ringing! Thursday was Pastor Dianne’s final Bible Study with us as she prepares to move to the Wyndemere/Hankinson area. A farewell coffee hour was held in her honor. The ladies got their nails done at Pretty Nails and then we learned some Fun Facts about Turkeys – did you know that a turkey can fly at a speed of up to 55 mph and can run on the ground at 25 mph. There is Mass and Church on Friday morning and then the American Legion/VFW will be here for $$$ bingo in the afternoon. Saturday brings reading in the morning followed by trivia in the afternoon plus a movie at 3 p.m. There is also Kaffee Hus in the dining room from 2-3:30 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.
Next Monday starts off with Newscurrents and then cards in the afternoon. We are also planning a Pumpkin Spice Social followed by Pin the Feather on the Turkey. Monday night is always Bingo. After Sit & Be Fit on Tuesday morning it’s time for the Auxiliary Birthday Party. Immanuel Lutheran is our hostess this month. There will be a Thanksgiving Church Service at 10:30 on Wednesday morning followed by crafts with Molly in the afternoon. Happy Thanksgiving on Thursday – we have one activity in the afternoon – we will be talking about What Thanksgiving Means to Me plus there is Bingo in the evening. Father Bob will lead a Mass on Friday and since we had a church service on Wednesday, we will be doing a What’s in the Bag activity at 10:30 instead of church. There is a special musical event in the afternoon when Paul Swanstrom comes to perform for us – he always puts on a good show. Saturday – the end of November already! – brings coffee time in the morning, followed by a bean bag toss and then bingo in the afternoon. Plus Kaffee Hus.
We have only one staff birthday next week – Happy birthday to Donna Dick. Hope you enjoy your special day.
We are saddened by the passing of three of our residents this past week. Eivind Lindseth on November 12th; Marion Ronholm on November 15th and Sun Center Apt resident Joan Simengaard on November 16th. Eivind enjoyed visiting with friends, family and staff – especially about farming. Marion enjoyed hearing devotions, visiting, watching tv and listening to music. Joan enjoyed knitting/crocheting and made several prayer shawls for our residents – she was always busy doing some crafting project. Rest in Peace Eivind, Marion and Joan.
Until next time … a thought for the week … one small positive thought can change your whole outlook
