Greetings from “The Home” front
Happy New Year!!!! Let’s hope that 2022 is even better than 2021!! We are starting off with lots of fun activities this last week of December!
Molly was here for Crosswords on Sunday and the residents made it through a really tough puzzle! A big thank you goes out to Carol Kost – our crossword guru for coming up with several difficult answers! Carol said she had been doing crosswords for over 60 years so she was a lot of help! Monday brought Down Memory Lane followed by Table Hockey and All About New Years. There was also Bingo in the evening. On Tuesday we got caught up on the news during Newscurrents and the residents had fun guessing “What Am I” during our late afternoon activity. We had to Put the Past in Order – which turned out to be a matching game on Wednesday morning and then the resident crafters made Thank You Cards later in the day. Staff also went shopping for residents at Dollar General and Miller’s. Thursday brought Winter Storm Detective – how appropriate for this time of year, then special music by Tim Mosser. Tim always puts on a great performance – there was lots of clapping and toe tapping. We hope you will return again soon Tim. Later the ladies got their nails done at Pretty Nails and there was Bingo in the evening. After Church on Friday morning, we celebrated New Year’s Eve a bit early with a party in the afternoon. There were lots of special treats, beverages and snacks - just the way to ring in the new year. On Saturday, January 1st 2022 already – we have Sit & Be Fit to help get rid of those Christmas calories, and Bingo in the afternoon.
A special huge THANK YOU goes out to all the churches, families and businesses that provided cookies, treats and gifts for our staff and residents. All the residents received “Thinking of You” letters from MPCG students and also GST students. Gate City Bank brought bags of jigsaw puzzles and word search books for our residents to enjoy. Resident Robert Robinson treated the staff to a meat/cheese platter with which to make sub sandwiches – thank you again Robert – I know everyone enjoyed the meal. Lori Powell from Hope brought Mary Kay products for each of our residents – what a special gift that was and everyone enjoyed their present. I wish I could name each and every one of you who brought something to LMH – please know that your gifts are truly appreciated.
I also have winners to announce from several contests that were held during the holidays – for our Door Decorating Contest the winner was Megan Evans who decorated resident Bob Judish’s Door with a fun snowman. The winners of our Ugly Sweater/Scrubs contest were: Rahni Smith 1st place; Deb Sletten 2nd place; and Jenny Almanza 3rd Place. Congratulations to all of you – your efforts made LMH a fun place to be!
Our sympathy to the friends and family of Daryell Ferguson who passed away December 24th. Daryell enjoyed listening to music, visiting with his wife and getting hand massages. Daryell’s wife, Mary, is also a resident here at LMH. Rest in Peace, Daryell – you will be missed.
Until next time … a thought for the week … What the New Year brings to you will depend a great deal on what you bring to the New Year … Make it a Great 2022!!!
