Greetings from “The Home” front …

Looks like the beginning of summer is upon us – what did you think of that hot hot Thursday!!! Our residents enjoyed some time in the sun this week and the flowers in the courtyard are starting to fill out.

On Monday, Memorial Day, the residents played Crosswords and then had a Memorial Day Program in the afternoon. They learned Memorial Day trivia and the history behind this important “never forget” day. A special thank you to the American Legion Auxiliary for providing red poppies for our residents to enjoy and to remember our fallen soldiers. There was Bingo in the evening. After Newscurrents on Tuesday, Nancy played for Choir and later on there was Wheel of Fortune. Wednesday brought Family Feud in the morning followed by Crafts in the afternoon. The residents made mini kites to hang in their rooms. Pastor Deb was here for Bible Study on Thursday morning and afterward the ladies got their nails done at Pretty Nails. Other residents spent time out on the Patio enjoying the hot weather. Also on Thursday, Administrator Brett Ulrich and his administrative staff cooked a meal for the employees as a thank you for the great survey we had. Only three “easy to fix” concerns. During this highly stressful time with Covid 19 it was great to be able to still provide 5-star care here at LMH. Way to Go Staff!! We had Church on Friday morning and then a yummy Donut Social in the afternoon. The residents also played Noodle Ball which is becoming one of their favorite games. On Saturday it is Sit & Be Fit followed by Bingo and a movie matinee. After that Donut Social on Friday we all needed Sit & Be Fit!

Next week we start out with Karaoke with ChiChi on Sunday afternoon. There will be a Spelling Bee on Monday morning followed by Reminisce and Kite Flying. Plus, Bingo in the evening. Tuesday brings Newscurrents and special music by Joe Schmidt in the afternoon. Joe puts on a fabulous performance and he will surely have everyone’s toes a tapping. Men’s Club meets on Wednesday followed by Crafts and then staff will go shopping for the residents. Thursday June 10th is Ice Tea Day and we will be having ice tea on the patio in the afternoon. There is also Poetry and Pretty Nails. Pastor Deb leads a Church Service on Friday and we will enjoy Happy ½ hour later in the day.

Congratulations to RN Mitch Krueger who became our new Admissions/Medicare Coordinator. He started his new position June 1st and will replace Genelle Dale who has taken a position in Grand Forks. Best wishes to you Genelle!

Starting on June 7th our New Activity Director, Lysa Wright, will begin working in the activities department. Lysa is a registered Musical Therapist and previously worked a practice in Grand Forks. Welcome aboard Lysa.

Only one resident birthday next week – Kaye Kvislen on June 13th. Winky Gummer. down in Sun Center Apts, has her birthday on June 12th. There are two staff birthdays next week also – both on June 12 – Dani Rader and Cora McClenahen. Happy Birthday to all of you and enjoy your special day!

Until next time … a thought for the week … There are 1440 minutes in every day. That means you have 1440 daily opportunities to make a positive impact …
