Greetings from “The Home” front ….

What a crazy weather week this has been! Did you see those HUGE snowflakes last Sunday – WOW!!! Just when everyone was ready to put away the sweaters and get out the short sleeve tops, we were in for a big surprise! Thankfully our residents were enjoying some fun activities inside!

Elaine led an Easy Does It Trivia game on Sunday afternoon and there was Lawrence Welk in the evening. We also had several visitors seeing family members and friends. The men played Blackjack during Men’s Club on Monday – now we know who the card sharks are! In the afternoon several residents wrote letters to their Peter Boe Jr Elementary 3rd grade pen pals. And there was Bingo in the evening. Tuesday brought Newscurrents and Choir. We had a special musical treat on Wednesday when Elroy Lindaas and Lane Lindseth performed in the dining room. There was a big turnout to hear them play and it was SO GOOD!!!! Thank you both for thinking of us here at LMH and sharing your musical talent. Earlier in the day we had a rousing game of Bunco. The residents planted seeds on Thursday – what a sure sign of spring. The seedlings will eventually be planted in the raised beds out in our courtyard. Can hardly wait to see them bloom – the courtyard is such a beautiful place for the residents to sit and visit in the spring and summer. After all that dirt digging, the ladies got their nails done at Pretty Nails in the afternoon. We had virtual Mass on Friday morning along with Church with Pastor Deb. Everyone celebrated TGIF with Happy ½ hour in the afternoon. Saturday brings Sit & Be Fit in the morning and Bingo and a movie in the afternoon.

Can you believe that next week is the final week of April already – Uff DA!!! Elaine will do a Reminisce activity on Sunday afternoon. There is Horseshoes on Monday morning followed by a cooking demo by our own activity assistant ChiChi. She will be making Lumpia. And of course, there is bingo in the evening. Newscurrents and Rhythm band with Nancy are on the agenda for Tuesday. Molly will be reading stories Wednesday morning followed by crafts in the afternoon. One of the residents favorite games is Noodle Ball which they will be playing on Thursday morning. There is always lots of laughter and giggling as they try to hit the balloon back and forth with those swimming pool “noodles”. The ladies will get their nails done in the afternoon. WE have Virtual Mass and Church with Pastor Deb on Friday morning and then bowling in the afternoon.

We would like to thank family of Herb Vosper for donating to Luther Memorial Home in Herbs memory. With the donation, we were able to order a new large white board on wheels. It was much appreciated.

We have one resident birthday next week – Randy Schober on April 29th. No birthdays down in Sun Center but several staff members will be celebrating their birthdays – Joann Studlien, Mathew Karolus and Jacob Sherva all on April 25th and Rochelle Grenz on April 27th.
