Greetings from “The Home” front …

It was Homecoming Week here at LMH and did we ever celebrate! Each Day had a different theme and our staff and residents really dressed for that day.

Molly was here on Sunday for Crosswords and we had so much fun, we ended up doing three different crosswords! Monday was Pajama Day and you should have seen the various PJs!! We had a Food Committee meeting first thing in the morning and then Reminiscing about Fall Sports. ChiChi cooked her delicious egg rolls for everyone to sample and there was a Resident Council meeting later in the afternoon. Of course, Bingo in the evening. On Tuesday it was Groovy Decades with poodle skirts, Tie-dye T-shirts with Peace Symbols and Bell Bottom pants. We had Newscurrents in the morning followed by Rhythm Band and School Days Detective in the afternoon. Wacky Wednesday had everyone wearing mismatched clothing. Name that Tune was our morning activity followed by Crafts. The residents made a cute scarecrow face to hang on their door. It was time for a Color War on Thursday with the various departments assigned certain colors to wear. The residents had a new activity called Sewing – Pass it On. It is a brain exercise using the last letter of the previous answer. WOW! There was also Pretty Nails and Bell Choir in the afternoon. Plus, Bingo in the evening. Pastor Deb was here for Church on Friday morning and the residents and staff were dressed in their favorite sports team clothing. We celebrated with Happy ½ hour in the afternoon. Saturday brings Sit & Be Fit, Bingo and Makeovers. Sounds like fun!

Our Fish Pond activity last week was a big hit! The residents received fishing “licenses” before they could go to the pond – and a “ranger” from the DNR was there to check to be sure they were valid. Residents then got to “fish” for prizes such as candy, Chapstick, a coupon for hand massage and other fun prizes. There was also some debris from the bottom of the pond including a single slipper, hat, broken jewelry and other junk. Residents that helped pull debris got a prize for being good water stewards.

ChiChi and the residents will sing Karaoke on Sunday afternoon. We have several new activities next week. LIFE Categories is one of them. It is similar to 5 Square and the residents will try to make as many words as possible from the letters L-I-F-E. On Monday afternoon we resume Kitchen Capers with the residents making an apple dessert. Another new crafting activity is Upcycled Calendar Rosette. We have Newscurrents, Rhythm Band and Bunco on Tuesday. After Choir and dinner on Wednesday, we have a special event – a Wedding Shower for Kayla Coronado and Jordan Eken who will be getting married on October 16th. Kayla is one of our social workers and Jordan works in the maintenance department. Best wishes to both of you! Pastor Deb leads Bible Study on Thursday and the ladies will get their nails done during Pretty Nails. We also have Short Stories and Bingo. Friday brings Church in the morning followed by $$$ Bingo with the American Legion/VFW in the afternoon. This is such a popular event we fill the dining room with bingo players. And we certainly appreciate these men (and women) from the community who come to play with us each month.

There are no resident or Sun Center birthdays next week but we have four staff members celebrating – Jaxen Fleming on September 21st and Courtney Archambeau, Greg Pruneda and Modesta Gibson all with birthdays on September 22. Happy Birthday and enjoy your special day!!!

Until next time … a thought for the week … Aspire to inspire before you expire …
