Greetings from “The Home” front ….

It’s been a busy week here at “The Home”. Besides being Holy Week, it was also April Fool’s Day and the opening of the baseball season – all rolled into one week! There has also been an increase in visitors, and we are SO HAPPY to see you.

On Monday we honored our Vietnam War Veterans on National Vietnam War Veterans Day. Thank you, veterans, for your service over there. The Men’s Club also met to discuss and race remote cars and then the ladies (and men) frosted Easter cookies. There was also Bingo in the evening. We had Newscurrents and Choir on Tuesday. Chi Chi was here to help with Junk Drawer Detective on Wednesday morning and in the afternoon the residents made cute Easter bunny decorations. Thursday was Maundy Thursday and Pastor Deb had Bible Study. We celebrated April Fool’s Day in the afternoon by learning about various April Fool traditions around the world. Did you know that both France and Italy celebrate the holiday by taping paper fish on the back of unsuspecting people? Thursday was also opening day of the baseball season and residents and staff were encouraged to wear a t shirt or hat from their favorite team. On Good Friday Pastor Deb was back for a Good Friday service and then the residents had fun going on an Easter Egg hunt throughout the halls. There is Sit & Be Fit on Saturday morning followed by Bingo and a movie.

We start out on Easter Sunday with a special Easter Church service at 2 p.m. with Chaplain Deb. There is Newscurrents on Monday morning followed by our Parachute game. Some of the residents will also help set up for our mini rummage sale which will be on Tuesday from 10:30 to 3 p.m. Wednesday is National Beer Day (who knew???) so during Happy ½ hour in the afternoon – guess what we will be serving! This is in additional to our other beverages of course. In the morning the residents will play 5 Square. We have special music by Leonard & Betty Wahl on Thursday afternoon. The residents always enjoy the musical events and we are happy to have such talented musicians willing to perform for us. Pastor Deb is back for church on Friday morning and Nancy will play for Rhythm Band in the afternoon.

Our Best wishes to Alice Simengaard who retired on March 29th after 29 years working in our kitchen. We will certainly miss her special cookies. Happy Retirement Alice.

We have two resident birthdays next week – Rich Snortland on April 6th and Hilma Hovde on April 12th. There are also three staff members celebrating their birthdays – Leticia Clagg and Kenew-Kiew Oshkosh on April 6th and Becky Moen on April 8th. Happy Birthday to all of you and enjoy your special day!

Happy Easter Everyone!!! And until next time … a thought for the week … Be like a postage stamp and stick to a thing until you get there ….
