Residents had a great time during Luther Memorial Home’s Spring Break Week!

Greetings from “The Home” front ….

Spring was in the air this week at LMH as we celebrated Spring Break Festivities! It was great to see the activity staff, some residents and staff dressed in bright beachy colors.

On Monday there was Springtime Wheel of Fortune – with the clue “How to spend spring break” everyone guessed Sun, Fun, Sand and Surf. There was lots of laughter and a big turnout for Beach Volleyball in the afternoon. After Newscurrents on Tuesday we had special music by Tim Mosher. Time puts on a great show and we were glad to have him back to celebrate Spring with us. We played 5 Square on Wednesday. It was Take Out Thursday and many of the residents ordered supper out from The Pizza Shop. The broasted chicken and pizza were a big hit! During the day we had Noodle Ball and the ladies got their nails done at Pretty Nails. There was Virtual Mass and then Church with Pastor Deb on Friday morning, and a change in the schedule for the afternoon, residents went on a van trip around town. It was good to get out and see the town. We celebrated TGIF with a Tropical Happy ½ hour in the afternoon. What a way to end the week. There is Sit & Be Fit and Bingo on Saturday.

ChiChi starts us off on Sunday with Karaoke at 2 p.m. in the activity room. Men’s Club meets Monday morning and the men will talk about remote cars. Our resident cooks will be frosting cookies in the afternoon. We have Newscurrents and Choir on Tuesday. The residents will play Junk Drawer Detective on Wednesday followed by Crafts in the afternoon. April 1st is Maundy Thursday and also National Fun Day plus the start of the baseball season. Staff and residents are encouraged to wear their favorite baseball team shirt or hat. On Good Friday there is Virtual Mass followed by Church with Pastor Deb. We will have an Easter Egg hunt in the afternoon. Saturday brings Sit & Be Fit and Bingo plus a movie in the afternoon.
We have one resident birthday next week – our Valentine Queen Loretta Wendlick’s birthday is March 28th. Sun Center resident Judy Verwest has her birthday on March 31st. We have five staff members also celebrating birthdays – Erica Baldock on March 29th, Isaiah Smith on March 30 and Tayla Egeland on March 31st. In April Maria Klabo and Danielle Kath have April 1st birthdays. Happy Birthday to all of you and enjoy your special day.

Congratulations to staff member Amanda Landa on the birth of a baby girl Ridley Rae on March 1st. Our Human Resources Manager Adam Edwards and his wife Brandi also welcomed a baby girl named Ainsley Larie on March 9th. I know all of the residents and staff are looking forward to meeting these two cute babies.

Our sympathy to the friends and family of Herb Vosper who passed away March 15 and Barbara Hettervig who died March 18th.Herb was the brother of long time Mayville resident June Hanson. He enjoyed visiting with staff, eating chocolate, drinking Pepsi, watching the markets and talking about his tractors. He had a wonderful smile. Barbara enjoyed attending most of our activities especially having a cup of coffee in the morning at Coffee Time, musical events and above all, playing Bingo. Rest in Peace Herb and Barbara – you will be missed.

Until next time … a thought for the week … Someday is not a day of the week …
