Greets from "The Home" front...
BRRRRR! That’s the only way to sum up this past week!!! But we have been keeping warm and busy here inside LMH! On Sunday the residents learned about the History of Valentines and also watched the Super Bowl. There was Sit & Be Fit on Monday morning, followed by Resident Council and then writing letters to our 3rd Grade Peter Boe pen pals. And, of course, Bingo in the evening. There was Newscurrents Tuesday morning and then Nancy played the piano for Name That Heart Tune. The residents did really good at naming songs with the word “heart” in them. We played Love is in the Air Trivia on Wednesday morning and then the crafty ladies (and men) did a “Love You to Pieces” art project. During our creative writing activity on Thursday, the residents talked and wrote about conversation hearts. Later in the afternoon, the ladies got their nails done just in time for Valentine’s day. There was Bingo in the evening. Friday brought Virtual Mass and Church in the morning and our Valentine Social in the afternoon. We will be serving Cupid Floats. Voting is going on in the activity room to choose our new 2021 Valentine King and Queen. Since the deadline for this column is due before the winners are announced – you will have to wait until next week to see who was chosen. Saturday brings Sit & Be Fit, Bingo and a Movie. Our coffee cart also goes around every morning bringing coffee, cocoa, juice and treats to all of our residents. We also have a dedicated group of residents that meet every morning to do folding of the laundry – mainly towels and wash clothes. We certainly appreciate their help with this “chore” and they also get a chance to visit with others – it is a win-win situation.
Molly will be here on Valentine’s Day to reminisce about Love and Valentines and probably show some old-fashioned ones from her collection. On Monday Feb 15 it is Presidents Day and after Sit & Be Fit in the morning, we will have a President’s Day trivia contest. We are celebrating Mardi Gras on Tuesday (Feb 16th). There is Newscurrents in the morning and homemade pretzels in the afternoon. It is Ash Wednesday on the 17th and Pastor Deb will be here to lead a church service. There is crafts with Molly in the afternoon. We have Bible Study on Thursday morning followed by Pretty Nails in the afternoon and then Bingo in the evening. Friday morning brings Virtual Mass and then a sing along with Nancy before dinner. It’s TGIF Happy ½ hour in the afternoon.
We have one resident birthday next week – Marion Larson on February 19th. Jean Ann Fugleberg in Sun Center celebrates her birthday on February 14th.We have several staff members who have upcoming birthdays – Sarah Gage on February 14th; Jennifer Koeni on February 15th; Kayla Coronato on February 17th; Braeden Jorgensen on February 19th; Alice Simengaard and Samantha Clagg both on February 20th. Our sympathy to the friends and family of Evelyn Kennedy who passed away February 6th. Evelyn enjoyed the musical activities, was a die heart Yankees Fan and enjoyed watching her favorite team play on TV and also listening to talking books and hearing devotions. Rest in Peace Evelyn- you will be missed.
Until next time … a thought for the week … It is short and has a powerful message…. “If not YOU- Who????
