Greetings from “The Home” front …

Last Friday (instead of Happy ½ hour) we had a beautiful Celebration of Life for our late therapy dog, Scooby. There is now a lovely granite plaque in our outside courtyard area with Scooby’s name on it. Rest in Peace Scooby – you were a great dog.

ChiChi led Karaoke on Sunday afternoon and really had the residents singing. After Coffee Time on Monday morning there was LIFE Categories – a word association game and then it was time for Kitchen Capers! It has been well over a year since we have been able to do Kitchen Capers and what fun everyone had making an individual apple dessert. Yum! There was also Bingo in the evening. Tuesday brought Newscurrents, then Rhythm Band and Bunco. Autumn began on Wednesday and the activity room is certainly decorated for Fall. With the new paint job and new window blinds it is a bright and cheery place to do activities. Nancy played piano for Choir in the morning and then we celebrated the upcoming wedding of Kayla Coronado and Jordan Eken with a bridal shower for the couple. Pastor Deb was here for Bible Study on Thursday morning followed by Pretty Nails and Short Story writing in the afternoon. Plus, Bingo in the evening. There is Church on Friday morning. In the afternoon, we welcomed the American Legion VFW members that were here to play $$$ Bingo with our residents. The dining room is usually full with residents anxious to play! What a great time was had by all. On Saturday we have Sit & Be Fit, Bingo and a Virtual Trip to Germany. Das soll spaB machen!!!

Next week we are celebrating Oktoberfest on Monday!!! After folding and coffee time there is German Jeopardy. Hmmmm sounds interesting and then in the afternoon we will have a taste of Germany with bite sized Reubens and German pretzels. Some of the residents will try their hand at Hammerschlagen which is a German game of driving nails into a log! There is also Bingo in the evening. On Tuesday it’s Newscurrents, Rhythm Band and our Parachute game. Wednesday brings Name That Tune in the morning followed by Pumpkin Decorating later in the day. It’s Finish the Song Lyrics Thursday morning, then Pretty Nails and Last Camping Day Detective. We have church on Friday morning.
