Greetings from “The Home” front …
Wow - we made it through another week and almost another month!!! It is nice to see the snow melting and hopefully in another month or two we will be able to go outside to enjoy the courtyard. Spring is on its way!
Molly was here on Sunday and lead a lively discussion and show ‘n tell on postage stamps. The residents reminisced about the cost of a stamp when they were young and also how pretty our postage stamps are now compared to the plain one cent variety. There was Sit and Be Fit on Monday followed by Crosswords and a virtual trip to Germany in the afternoon and Bingo in the evening. We appreciate resident Robert Robinson who has become our bingo caller. Also, a thank you to resident Terry Anderson who has been so kind to help other residents with their bingo numbers during the games and for picking up the cards afterwards. It was Take Out Tuesday and the residents that participated ordered their noon meal from Paula’s. From the smiles on their faces, it looked like the food was tasting good! Everyone was too busy eating to offer any comments. We also had Newscurrents and Rhythm Band on Tuesday. Wednesday brought a Sing-Along in the morning and then the crafty ladies (and men) made a Thinking of You greeting card featuring dragonflies. We had Men’s Club on Thursday plus Pretty Nails in the afternoon. Pastor Deb was here for church on Friday and there was also virtual mass. Several residents played Bunco in the afternoon. On Saturday there is Sit & Be Fit, 5 Square and a Movie.
Elaine is back to play Trivia with our residents on Sunday. We start out the month of March with Yahtzee in the morning followed by a Sing- along in the afternoon. And of course, Bingo in the evening. Tuesday is Dr Suess Day and we will learn some facts about Dr Suess plus reading some Dr Suess stories. We have a special treat in the afternoon when Sarah Gage will play her harp for us. Harp music is always so beautiful and relaxing – we are really looking forward to hearing her play. Sarah works as an evening receptionist and as an activity assistant. Thank you for sharing your beautiful music. There is Newscurrents and Crafts on Wednesday. Pastor Deb is here for Bible Study on Thursday plus the ladies will get a chance to get their nails painted at Pretty Nails in the afternoon. We have church on Friday morning followed by Bunco in the afternoon. Our Catholic residents are also able to see a virtual mass.
We have one resident birthday next week – Robert Aasen on March 6th. Marlys Hlavinka in Sun Center has her birthday March 4th. There are only two staff birthdays – Wanda Freadrich on March 1st and Marcus Dale on March 4th. Happy Birthday to all of you and enjoy your special day!!!
Our sympathy to the friends and family of Kenny Brustad who passed away February 22. Kenny had just been named our Valentine King two weeks ago. He enjoyed visiting with his family and staff, painting on canvas (his drawings were beautiful!) and watching sports on TV. Rest in Peace Kenny as you join your beloved wife Jean - you will be missed.
Until next time … a thought for the week …The meaning of life is to find your gift – the purpose of life is to give it away …
