Greetings from “The Home” front ….

WOW! This first week of February has been a busy one!!! Monday, after Sit & Be Fit the residents made valentine pictures using cotton balls and a clothespin – they turned out amazing! We had our first concert since March when Tim Mosser came to play and sing for us. Tim was screened thoroughly, rapid tested, brought his own equipment, performed behind a clear plastic screen and we social distanced in the dining room, all wore masks and performed hand hygiene. It was wonderful, the residents are still talking about it. We hope to have more musical performances. Tues there was newscurrents and choir. It was also Ground Hog Day. We polled the residents to see if they thought that the Ground Hog would see its shadow, there was also ground hog trivia, and the residents searched the facility for hidden pictures of Phil. We had a mini rummage sale on Wednesday – there was lots of cute clothes to chose from and everyone that came enjoyed finding a new outfit. Pastor Deb was here for Bible Study Thursday morning and the ladies got their nails done at Pretty Nails. We had bingo on both Monday and Thursday night. Friday brought Virtual Mass and church followed by TGIF Happy ½ hour in the afternoon. There is Sit & Be Fit on Saturday morning and a Love Lines activity in the afternoon.

Next week starts out with Sit & Be Fit followed by a Resident Council meeting and then writing letters to our Peter Boe 3rd grade pen pals. There is bingo in the evening. It’s newscurrents and Name that Heart tune on Tuesday. That should be fun – how many songs can you name that have “Heart” in the title??? Here are a few – Achy Breaky Heart, Your Cheatin’ Heart and Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. On Wednesday “Love is in the Air” when we play trivia with a valentine theme and the residents will do a craft project called Love you to Pieces. There is creative writing on Thursday followed by pretty nails in the afternoon. After Mass and Church on Friday we will celebrate with a Valentine Social Cart. Saturday brings Sit & Be Fit and Bingo. Molly will reminisce about Love and Valentine’s Day on Sunday (Feb 14th).

The residents had a wonderful little surprise this past week when 4-year-old Tyler Eliason dropped off foam valentines she had made for all of our residents along with Hersheys Kisses. Besides hearts there were koala bears, kittens, dogs, unicorns to name a few. She did a fabulous job of creating each animal with a personality of its own. Good job Tyler and thank you for thinking of us, they look great on our resident’s doors.

Congratulations to Betty Pickar who is our latest progressive bingo winner.

Congratulations to Susan Anderson who after 25 years of being a CNA decided to take on a different roll at LMH. She is now working in housekeeping in Sun Center Assisted Living.

We have one resident birthday next week – Roma Beck on February 11th. There are two staff members also celebrating birthdays – Tara Anderson on February 12 and Ashton Sundeen on February 13th.
