Greetings from “The Home” front …
What a nice time some of our residents had when they took a van trip over to Portland on Monday. They stopped at Molly’s – an antique, craft and mighty fine junk shop to browse the Christmas in July décor. Soholt donuts and peach sparkling water were special treats. There was a nice turnout on Tuesday at our farewell party for Director of Nursing Julie Hanson. We all wish Julie the best in her new position with the VA. Wednesday brought Ladder Ball and Bunco – could you hear that bell ringing!! There was Bible Study on Thursday morning followed by Name That Tune and horseshoes in the afternoon. After church on Friday, in the afternoon, the residents were treated to a Super Dooper Ice Cream Sunday Buffet – lots of different toppings to choose from. With this hot weather it was a definite treat! We have reading and Kaffee Hus on Saturday. Our Saturday movie matinee is Little House on the Prairie. Those delightful books by Laura Ingalls Wilder come to life in this movie video.
Next week the van is going to Rainbow Gardens on Monday. This is a very popular event with our residents and we usually make a couple of trips down there. The gardens are so beautiful any time of the spring and summer. It is so nice to get out in the fresh air and enjoy the flowers. It’s Sit & Be Fit on Tuesday followed by Rhythm Band in the afternoon. Next Wednesday looks exciting as we will be having a drone demonstration. Central Valley Parish Vacation Bible School will be here on Thursday to sing for us and then in the afternoon it is PIE DAY and our silent auction. Friday brings Church, pretty nails and happy ½ hour.
As I mentioned previously – Thursday July 20th is our Auxiliary Pie Day and Silent Auction. Pie will be served from 2-3:30 p.m. but you can bid on auction items from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The activity office is already filling up with fabulous and creative baskets to bid on. This is a major fund raiser for LMH/Auxiliary so I hope you will be able to attend and give us your support.
A special thank you to Duane’s Lyng’s daughters who brought several bags of Soholt donuts to share with the staff as a thank you. We certainly do appreciate their thoughtfulness and the donuts were delicious!!
We have one resident birthday next week – Happy Birthday to Evelyn Kennedy on July 17th. Sun Center resident Donna Bakkum celebrated early this past weekend with a party in her honor at Sun Center – her official birthday is July 20th. Staff members having birthday include Jordan Eken, Jackie Ulrich, and James Cleveland III all on July 19th. Joel Piatz celebrates his special day on July 21. Best wishes to all of you and make it a great day.
Until next time … a thought for the week … Believing in you is the first secret to success …
