Greetings from “The Home” front …
We started off a busy holy week with a Food Committee meeting and Newscurrents on Monday morning followed by Bunco in the afternoon. Tuesday brought Sit & Be Fit and Rhythm Band. Name that Easter Tune was on Wednesdays agenda and Mary and her gang of quilters were here in the afternoon. That quilt the residents (and helpers) are making is sure turning out beautiful! Later on the residents helped dye Easter eggs. We had some great colors and designs. Thursday we had a Maundy Thursday Church Service with Communion and then the Peter Boe 3rd graders arrived in the afternoon to visit their “adopted” grandparents. They had a good time visiting and playing bingo. There was Good Friday mass and church service on what else – Friday. The activities staff served Fruity Friday Fruit smoothies in the afternoon and the ladies got their nails done just in time for Easter. On Saturday we will have an Easter word search plus crosswords. The Saturday movie matinee is “The Passion” – so appropriate for this time of year. We will have a special Easter service at 2 p.m. on Sunday. There will also be Kaffee Hus both Saturday from 2-3:30.
Next week we begin with Newscurrents on Monday morning and then the residents will be making a vegetable pizza in the afternoon at Kitchen Cappers. Tuesday it will be Sit & Be Fit and Rhythm Band. After 5 square, Mary and her quilters will be back Wednesday afternoon. The van is going shopping at Dollar General on Thursday and there is church, pretty nails and happy ½ hour on Friday. Another busy and fun week ahead!
We have had several volunteers from MSU these past few weeks. They have visited with our residents, played pool, worked on jigsaw puzzles and played cards. We appreciate their volunteering and I know the residents really enjoyed having them here. Thanks again volunteers for your help.
Speaking of volunteers – the volunteer luncheon is just around the corner (April 25th) and the deadline for reservations is April 18th. Be sure to call the activities department and let us know you are coming.
We have several resident birthdays next week – Delores Paulson celebrates on April 18 and Mary Lou Aamold and Donald Grage have birthdays on April 19th. Sun Center resident Marvin Callahan’s birthday is April 16th and Arlene Beekman’s is April 21. There is one staff birthday this week. Kiana Meyer’s is on April 15th. Happy Birthday to all of you and enjoy your special day.
Until next time … May you have a safe and blessed Easter. A thought for the week … You only fail when you stop trying
