Greetings from “The Home” front …
A special thank you to Sue and Joel Piatz for bringing their baby goats for the residents to enjoy!
Our first week in May started off with newscurrents in the morning and a rousing game of Bunco in the afternoon. Tuesday was Teacher Appreciation Day and we acknowledged several of our residents that were former teachers. Pam was here in the afternoon for a sing-along. There was Bible Study Wednesday morning with Pastor Diane and Elaine did crafts in the afternoon. Not sure what they made but know it was sure to be cute. At Men’s club later on the men reminisced and enjoyed some Soholt donuts. Thursday was National Day of Prayer. We had sit & be fit in the morning with reading and pretty nails in the afternoon. We celebrated Cinco de Mayo on Friday with a Fiesta Happy ½ hour in the late afternoon. Prior to that there was church and Veteran’s Circle with our Veterans Service Officer Emily Cost. There is bingo on Saturday afternoon plus Kaffee Hus. Our Saturday movie matinee is the 1956 classic “The Man Who Knew Too Much”. Directed by Alfred Hitchcock so you know it will be a good one! He was the master of suspense and surprise endings.
Next week the van is going shopping at ShopKo on Monday afternoon. There is Sit & Be Fit and Rhythm Band on Tuesday. Mary and her gang will be here on Wednesday and the Peter Boe 3rd graders will have their final visit with their adopted grandparents on Thursday. Friday is a special day with our Celebration of Women party. It looks like a busy and fun week ahead!
A few of our staff members are attending the Long Term Care Conference is Bismarck this week. I am sure they will come back with several new and exciting ideas. It is always a great opportunity to network with other facilities and find out how they do things. A highlight of the conference is the Caregiver of the Year award – several of our staff were nominated this year and I will have their names in next week’s column.
Our 3rd annual staff and family picnic is Wednesday May 17th starting at 5 p.m. in the Shelter and Courtyard– just a reminder to staff that the RSVP deadline to attend is May 12th. Please let us know if you are planning to attend.
