Greetings from “The Home” front …
Our veggie pizza made at Kitchen Cappers on Monday turned out absolutely delicious! It is a great appetizer – in fact I made it again Tuesday night and served it with soup. I have included the recipe at the bottom of the page … Tuesday there was Sit & Be Fit and Rhythm Band. After 5 square in the morning, the Jet Set club met for dinner and had requested black eyed pea and ham soup, it was very tastey. Mary and her gang were here for quilting on Wednesday afternoon. Last week the residents worked on Mug Rugs which are perfect for setting your coffee and treat on at your bedside table. The residents picked out top and bottom fabric and a design such as butterfly, lady bug, or dragon fly and Mary’s gang took the pieces home to stitch together. We also had Men’s Club later in the afternoon and the men enjoyed playing blackjack. Thursday brought an exciting trip to Dollar General for our residents. There was such interest that we had to make two bus trips – this was the first time many of the residents had been there and everyone was quite impressed. Friday we have church, pretty nails and happy ½ hour. This Saturday is Earth Day and we will have an Earth Day word search plus bingo and Kaffee Hus. Our Saturday movie matinee is “Waiting for the Wind”. This movie features Robert Mitchum and Rhonda Fleming. This short 30 minute film was produced by the Lutheran Church. It is the story of a young boy who adores his grandfather who is building a sailing vessel on his farm – far from the sea. The grandfather is dying and possibly cannot live to see the boat launched. But sometimes miracles do happen …
April 23- 29 is National Healthcare Volunteer Week. We are honoring our volunteers with a recognition luncheon on Tuesday April 25th. John Klocke will provide special entertainment. We appreciate all those people who volunteer here at LMH by spending time with our residents. There is also the Auxiliary Birthday party on Tuesday afternoon – Mayville Lutheran is the hostess. Wednesday April 26th is Administrative Professional’s Day – Best wishes to Linda Knudsvig and Heather Satrom for all you do to keep LMH running so smoothly. You truly are appreciated! It is also National Pretzel Day and we will be making pretzels during Kitchen Cappers on Wednesday afternoon. Thursday is Name that Tune in the morning plus Pretty Nails in the afternoon. Elaine will continue with her reading of “The Story” our bible study lesson. Friday it is the end of the month and that means Bingo with the American Legion and VFW!
We have a few resident birthdays coming up next week: Marilyn Anderson on April 23rd, Katy Wright on April 24th, Eleanor Amb and Ron Geatz on April 25th. Staff members having birthdays include Joann Studlien and Mathew Karolus on April 25th, Quincy Delaplane on April 28th. Happy Birthday and Best Wishes to all of you.
Until next time … a thought for the week … Start where you are, Use what you have, Do what you can … Now here’s that recipe:
2 8oz cans refrigerator crescent rolls
8 oz. cream cheese, softened
1 cup sour cream
1 ounce pkg Hidden Valley ranch dressing mix
2 T. mayo
Shredded cheddar cheese
Any vegetables you desire – chopped
Spread crescent rolls on cookie sheet to make a large rectangle. Cook 10 minutes or until golden brown.
Mix the cream cheese, sour cream, dressing mix and mayo together. Spread on top of the cooled crescent rolls. Spread the chopped veggies on top of the mixture you just spread on the crescent rolls. Sprinkle with cheddar cheese on top. Cut with a sharp knife and enjoy!
