Greetings from “The Home” front
What a fabulous concert we had by the gospel group Higher Ground from Sharon Lutheran Church in Grand Forks on Sunday. They put on a wonderful program for our residents and visitors. Special thanks to resident Connie Strand for helping to arrange their performance. We definitely want them to come again!
We started the week with our Valentine Dinner for couples on Monday. Our guests enjoyed a delicious meal including wine! And there was special music by Dee Von Ruden. Thank you Dee! There was kitchen cappers in the afternoon when our residents made valentine parfaits. Congratulations to Gerald and Ardis Storebo who were crowned our Valentine King & Queen for 2017 at our valentine party on Tuesday. Gerald and Ardis will represent LMH at various events in our area. Thank you to Elaine Klath for providing special music for our Party, Thank you Elaine! The residents went to Shopko on Wednesday for some retail therapy. Afterwards we had a new activity called “Resident Histories” where we asked residents to recall a special event or story in their life. This memory was written down in hopes of sharing it with family and friends. We played trivia and table hockey on Thursday. Elaine also continued reading “The Story”. Friday brought church, pretty nails and happy ½ hour. There will be bingo on Saturday along with Kaffee Hus. Our Saturday movie matinee is The Trial of Old Drum. It is the story of a young boy and his golden retriever Drum who share adventures in their rural town until a neighbor accuses Drum of killing his sheep and the dog is put on trial.
Next week we have newscurents and 5 squares on Monday. There is Rhythm Band with Pam on Tuesday. Mary and her quilting gang are here Wednesday and the residents will be making Liver & Onions at Kitchen Cappers on Thursday. This is an all time favorite with many of our residents! There is Bingo with the VFW/American Legion on Friday. Can you believe that February is almost over!!! Where does the time go!
We have a few resident birthdays this coming week – Lloyd Erickson and Gloria Boedekker celebrate on February 20th, Shirley Radloff on the 22nd and Delores Holden on the 24th. Staff members Alice Simengaard has a birthday on February 20th, Roy Nelson on the 21st and Clarence “Junior” Nelson on the 22nd. Happy Birthday to all of you and enjoy your special day!
Our sympathy to the friends and family of Francis Brown who passed away February 9th. Fran enjoyed the outdoors, listening to music and getting hand massages. Rest in Peace Francis.
Until next time … a thought for the week … Our days are happier when we give people a bit of our heart rather than a piece of our mind …
