Greetings from “The Home” front …
WOW! What can I say about the Harvest Ball on Thursday! There was a great turnout – our residents looked fabulous all “gussied up” in their clothes & makeup – the Hayshakers outdid themselves with music and the dessert was delicious – that pretty much sums it up folks!!!! A BIG THANK YOU to all the volunteers who helped make this a special occasion. Also thank you to Fargo’s Merle Norman and Sephora inside JCPenny for donating cosmetic samples. Watch for pictures next week.
We had other activities going on this week too – Monday was Newscurrents and in the afternoon at Kitchen Cappers our resident cooks made apple dumplings – sure hope they saved one for me!! It was Sit & Be Fit on Tuesday (we needed that after those apple dumplings!) and rhythm band in the afternoon. Sandy read from the book “Whence You Came” on Wednesday morning and then she did a presentation of how to make a Rhubarb Leaf Stepping Stone. I have seen these leaves in many gardens and they are lovely. There was Bible Study on Thursday morning and then our Harvest Ball in the afternoon. Friday brought Church in the morning and our Potato Chip Social in the afternoon. Since Friday is also the first day of Fall, and Fall Prevention Education Day, we had some special word games and information all day long. On Saturday there is “real” bingo at 2 p.m. and don’t forget Kaffee Hus both Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m. in the dining room. Our Saturday movie matinee is “Field of Dreams”. This is an Academy Award nominee about an Iowa corn farmer, who hears voices commanding him to build a baseball diamond in his corn fields and the 1919 Chicago White Sox come to play. This is definitely a winning movie!
Next Week (the last week of September – can you believe it!). There will be a van trip to the Blanchard/Clifford area to check on the crops and see the sights. The Auxiliary Birthday Party is Tuesday with Our Lady of Peace as hostess. Men’s Club meets on Wednesday morning and there is Kitchen Cappers in the afternoon. Our resident cooks will be making a yummy fruit salad. Thursday brings Choir in the morning with Bunco and reading in the afternoon. It’s the last Friday of the month and you know what that means – the American Legion/VFW will be here for Bingo in the afternoon. Of course, we will still have church in the morning.
We have one resident birthday next week – Bill Shahane celebrates his on September 29th. Staff member Christy Sheets has a birthday September 24th, Megan Knudsvig on the 27th, Ben Berdal on the 28th and Danielle Carr on the 29th. Happy Birthday to all of you and enjoy your special day!
Until next time … a thought for the week … A negative mind will never give you a positive life.
