Greetings from "The Home" front...

A big THANK YOU to the Clifford Galesburg 4-H members who provided handmade valentines for all of our residents to enjoy!  I know the residents appreciate your thinking of them on this special day!

We started out Sunday with 5 Square (actually 6 square!) using the letters W-I-N-T-E-R – this is a great brain game to get those brain cells going. There was lots of laughter with some of the names we came up with under the category boy’s names. One of our residents has several family members with unusual Norwegian names that fit the category. We held a Spelling Bee on Monday morning and then played a few rounds of Bunco. We closed out the day with Bingo. Tuesday started out with NewsCurrents and then Lysa and ChiChi made Halo Halo for everyone to enjoy during Kitchen Capers. This is a delicious Filipino treat that we have had before and just needed to bring it back! Later in the afternoon, the residents went to Boston during our Arm Chair Vacation. We are going to various places around the world every month via a video tour. Everyone in attendance gets a “stamp” on their passport too. Molly brought vintage valentines to show during Down Memory Lane on Wednesday. She talked a little bit about how Valentines have changed throughout the years and the residents reminisced about valentines they have given and also received. We also gathered for some games in the activity room in the afternoon. Pastor Deb was here for Bible Study on Thursday morning and then Tim Mosser was back for another musical afternoon. We are so happy to have him willing to come and play for us – he puts on a great performance. In the evening it was time for Bingo. Pastor Deb led a Church service on Friday morning and later on the ladies got their nails done during Pretty Nails. There is Sit & Be Fit on Saturday followed by Bingo and then Crafts.

Molly will be back on Sunday to play Crosswords. We have Valentine Reminisce on Monday morning followed by Men’s Club, Resident Council and Bingo in the evening. Looks like a busy Monday! There is Newscurrents on Tuesday and then it’s time for one of our most popular events – Our Valentine Party and the crowing of our 2023 Valentine King and Queen!!! What an exciting time as our residents have been voting these past 10 days for our new royalty. Lysa will play the piano for Name That Tune on Wednesday morning and the crafty crafters will be making a “Thinking of You” greeting card in the afternoon. ChiChi goes shopping for our residents later in the afternoon. Thursday brings Trivia, Pretty Nails and Left, Right, Center Dice Game and Bingo in the evening. Pastor Deb will be here for Church on Friday morning and then Paul Swanstrom will entertain us with accordion music and a sing along.

We have one resident birthday next week- Duane Bjerke on February 18th.  There are several staff members celebrating birthdays also – Tara Anderson and Chloe Cordahl on February 12th, Ashton Rose on February 13th, Jennifer Koenig on February 15th and Kayla Eken on February 17th.  Happy Birthday to all of you and enjoy your special day!

Until next time … May this week bring you lots of smiles, love in your home and happiness in your heart …
