Greetings from “The Home” front …
Happy New Year Everyone!! Let’s hope that 2023 is even better than last year. We look forward to new activities, new staff and a positive attitude. Our new administrator Brittany Ness began work on Tuesday and we welcome her on board.
A big THANK YOU goes out to several of our resident’s families who brought us TONS of cookies and treats as a thank you to enjoy this holiday season. As I “taste tested” several of them, I can assure you all the treats were delicious and greatly appreciated.
Congratulations to our staff members Courtney Archambeau, Kori Fenske, Jen Koenig, and Rahni Smith who won our door decorating contest. It was so much fun to see the resident’s doors and hallways all decorated in various Christmas themes for the holidays.
Social worker Sam Trosen and her husband Jared welcomed a new baby girl on December 26th. Lyla Lyn weighed 6 lb 13 oz and was 19.5 in length. Congratulations Sam and Jared – I know the staff and residents look forward to meeting Lyla.
To start out the new year – we have some new activities. Monday, we took down the Christmas decorations while the residents played several detective games. There was also Bingo in the evening. Tuesday brought Newscurrents and a new activity – arm chair travel. The residents “traveled” to San Francisco and learned several fun facts about that city. They also received a San Francisco stamp in their “passport” booklet. Each month, we will travel to a different city and those in attendance will receive a stamp to their passport. Lysa played the piano for Name That Tune on Wednesday and then the residents made a Thank You card during crafts. ChiChi also went shopping for the residents. We found Words in Words during our morning activity and the ladies got their nails done in the afternoon. We also had Bingo in the evening. Chris Larson led a church service on Friday morning and then we had Snow Shovel Races. There will be Sit & Be Fit, Bingo, and Wheel of Fortune on Saturday.
Next week we start out on Monday with Trivia, then Men’s Club will meet to visit and enjoy a snack. There is also a Resident Council meeting in the afternoon followed by Bingo in the evening. Andrea brings us up to date with Newscurrents Tuesday morning and then we will play a rousing game of Table Hockey using Swiffer dusters. This is a hilarious activity and it is surprising how competitive our teams are! Lysa will play for Choir on Wednesday morning and then my favorite game is on the schedule – BUNCO in the afternoon. We also have Mystery Box Reminisce. Pastor Deb is back for Bible Study on Thursday followed by Pretty Nails and a friendly competition with Fly Swatter Ball. We will also have Bingo in the evening. There is Church on Friday morning and we will celebrate Friday the 13th Happy Half Hour with special treats.
We have one resident birthday next week – Kathryn Vinje on January 13th. There are also three staff members celebrating next week – Katherine Pruneda on January 9th, Katie Sayler on January 12th and Sarah Zapata on January 14th. Happy Birthday to all of you and enjoy your special day!!!
Until next time … a thought for the week … Although no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start now and make a brand new ending …
