Greetings from “The Home” Front …
Another busy week here at LMH - Monday started with Newscurrents in the morning followed by Bunco and Lotion in Motion in the afternoon. The Activity Department made a mobile photo display in Remembrance of September 11th for Tuesday. The residents also did Sit & Be Fit and tapped their toes at Rhythm Band in the afternoon. Wednesday brought our Rummage Sale – I hope you were able to stop by and pick up a good bargain – there were lots of them! Pam was here on Thursday for a special sing along and Elaine had reading on Thursday morning. After church on Friday, the van went to the Mayville Senior Center so some of our residents could play cards. We also had Men’s Club and Pretty nails while they were away. It’s Crosswords at 2 p.m. and Kaffee Hus from 2-3:30 on Saturday. Our Saturday movie matinee is “When the Landscape is Quiet”. It is a documentary about then Governor Art Link’s 1973 speech concerning the environment and how it affects North Dakota. There is Kaffee Hus on Sunday from 2-3:30 and also Trivia at 2 p.m.
Next week we start off with a van trip to Dollar General so the residents can do retail therapy. There is Newscurrents in the morning and Lotion in Motion in the afternoon. I am often asked just what is “Lotion in Motion” – it is an opportunity for our activities staff to visit with residents that often do not come to other events. We provide them with a soothing hand massage, bring them music or magazines and just spend time visiting with them. There is Sit & Be Fit on Tuesday morning and Rhythm Band in the afternoon. Nancy is here for choir on Wednesday morning and Molly and the crafters will be making a fall card in the afternoon. Later on, during Reminisce we will be “Thinking Back on our Youth” - gosh that was a long time ago! Thursday will be a very special day when we celebrate our Harvest Ball – we will have music by Joe Schmidt. The dining room will turn into a wonderful dance palace with fall theme decorations and refreshments. It is a chance for the residents to get their hair and make up done and put on their fanciest clothes and go to a party. It is sure to be a fun time for everyone. Friday brings church, pretty nails and happy ½ hour.
Congratulations to Leticia Clagg and Melinda Donohue who were named our July Employees of the Month. Leticia has been employed since 2015 as a dietary aide and Melinda has been a CNA since 2016. Thank you to both of you for setting such a good example for our employees here at LMH.
There are no resident or Sun Center birthdays next week. However we have several staff members who are celebrating: Skyla Johnson on September 15, Kathy Gangelhoff, Irma Bennett, Janet Nielson and Jacquelyn White on September 16, Nancy Bjerke and Sandy Braaten on September 17, Lisa Nelson on September 18 and Emily Carlson on September 20th. WOW!!! Happy Birthday to all of you and enjoy your special day!
Until next time … a thought for the week … You will never win if you never begin ….
