Greetings from "The Home" front …
Spring? SPRING?? Are you there???? Mother Nature is sure having a good time playing with us North Dakotans and all the snow! Again - a special shout out THANK YOU to the staff members who stayed on during the snowstorm and worked extra shifts to keep LMH running smoothly. If you know an LMH employee - why not give them a personal thank you for being there to care for your loved one no matter what the weather. Staff members you are appreciated.
We had a good turnout last Saturday for Down Memory Lane when Molly brought out vintage Easter hats to show. It's hard to believe how "gussied up" we got for special holidays - with hats, gloves, matching shoes, purse and maybe even a corsage. Residents remembered the candy Easter eggs and big family get togethers on Easter Sunday. Lots of fond memories.
We thought Pat and Vanna might be here on Sunday for Wheel of Fortune - but alas that big snowstorm probably prevented them from coming. Even so we had a great time trying to guess what the letters spelled out.
There was newscurrents on Monday morning and card/board games in the afternoon. We had Sit & Be Fit Tuesday morning in preparation for the Auxiliary Birthday Party in the afternoon. Immanuel Lutheran was the hostess and they provided a yummy dessert of angel food cake topped with strawberries and whipped cream, yum, plus special music . Nancy did Name That Tune on Wednesday morning and Mary & her quilting gang were here in the afternoon. They played the I spy quilt game they made with residents. Lots of laughter and conversation was heard as they had coffee following the game. We also had our annual Easter Egg hunt throughout the hallways and activity room. Pastor Dianne came for Maundy Thursday worship (including communion) and in the afternoon the residents dyed Easter eggs. Each resident got to enjoy an egg afterward. On Good Friday there is church and then in the afternoon we prepare for the holiday with Pretty Nails and Happy 1/2 hour. There is bingo and Kaffee Hus on Saturday. Our Saturday movie matinee is "Where Jesus Walked". This is a documentary showing where Jesus walked and following his footsteps throughout the Holy Land. The film will also show famous paintings of events in the Savior's life. It will leave a lasting impression. Don't miss it!
Pastor Diane will be here on Sunday for a special Easter Service at 2 p.m. in the chapel. All our welcome to attend. There will be no Kaffee Hus on Easter Sunday. We have newscurrents on Monday morning and the Baseball opener in the afternoon. Staff and residents are encouraged to wear their favorite team colors or jerseys. There is Sit & Be Fit on Tuesday morning and Rhythm Band in the afternoon. Molly will be doing a craft project with the residents on Wednesday afternoon and we will also be playing bunco! On Thursday it's Bible Study in the morning and we will be enjoying root beer floats later on. We will also have Wheel of Fortune (maybe Pat and Vanna can make it this time!). Friday brings church, pretty nails and happy 1/2 hour.
We have several staff birthdays next week - - Maria Klabo (April 1), Sarah Villa, Leticia Clagg, and Kenew-Kiew Oshkosh all on April 6th. Happy Birthday to all of you and enjoy your special day.
Until next time - may you have a joyous and happy Easter with friends and family.
