Greetings from "The Home" front …
Boy - did Mother Nature show us whose boss this week - a BIG SPECIAL THANK YOU to all the staff who stayed late, came in early, worked for other staff members and in general kept Luther Memorial Home running smoothly during this latest snow storm. Your efforts were truly appreciated.
The weather outside didn't keep us from having fun inside - Monday started with Newscurrents and then at Kitchen Cappers in the afternoon the residents made individual chocolate mint parfaits. Yum - sounds good. Elaine Klath was here for rhythm band on Tuesday - everyone had fun doing the chicken dance. There was lots of clapping and toe tapping. The residents had a chance to actually paint a picture with Sandy on Wednesday afternoon. She made it look so easy! We had reading on Thursday morning and the Peter Boe third graders were here to visit in the afternoon. There was also bunco and bingo! Friday brought church, pretty nails and happy half hour. We have crosswords on Saturday along with Kaffee Hus. Our Saturday movie matinee is "Horse Camp". It is the story of a teen age girl who arrives at a horse camp and learns the value of true friendship as the competition heats up with the resident mean girl. This is a family movie with a great message. We will also be playing trivia at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
Next week starts with a food committee meeting and newscurrents on Monday morning. There are cards and board games in the afternoon. Tuesday brings Sit & Be Fit in the morning with rhythm band in the afternoon - Nancy is back to play for us. After resident council on Wednesday morning we have a special treat - Reagan McGillis will be here in the afternoon to entertain the residents with Harp Music. Can hardly wait to hear her play! During crafts we will decorate shamrocks. Pastor Dianne is here for Bible study Thursday morning. In the afternoon there is pretty nails, 5 square and bingo. Friday we have church in the morning and another special musical treat - Lane Linseth will be here to play during our St Patrick's Day Party. Lane has been here before and is a real popular musician. He plays the accordion and the piano.
Our sympathy goes out to the friends and family of Ron Geatz who passed away February 26th. Ron enjoyed visiting with family and staff, listening to music and receiving hand massages. Services were held in Grand Forks. Rest in Peace Ron.
We have one resident birthday next week - Phyllis Dakken celebrates on March 11th. There are also four staff birthdays - Kayla Hanson on March 11, Xavier Simpson on March 14 and Meagan Karolus and Jessica Volla on March 16th. Happy Birthday to all of you and enjoy your special day!
Until next time … a thought for the week … it's not what you say, or wish or hope or intend - it is only what you do that counts …
