Greetings from "The Home" front ...
What a super busy and exciting week we have had at "the Home".
Monday started out with the Food Committee meeting in the morning along with Newscurrents. We had our first LMH Olympic competition with the Table Hockey Event. This is so much fun - the residents really enjoy playing it! There was bingo in the evening. We honored our husband and wife couples with a Sweetheart Dinner on Tuesday. The activity room was decorated beautifully and the kitchen prepared a special meal - we even had wine! Elaine Klath provided romantic background music - everything was so lovely. In the afternoon we held a Mardi Gras event with special music by Otto Meucke. There was a photo booth, festive decorations and a special lunch; residents decorated Mardi Gras Cookies and punch. Pastor Diane was here on Wednesday for an Ash Wednesday church service in the morning and we had our much anticipated Valentine Party in the afternoon. The Hayshakers provided some wonderful toe tapping music! Congratulations to our 2018 Valentine King and Queen. Names will be announced in next week’s paper. This is a highlight of our Valentine Party. Our King and Queen will represent Luther Memorial Home in the annual summer parades. Thursday brought Bible Study in the morning and another Olympic Event in the afternoon - our residents tried their luck at Olympic Bowling! We also had resident council in the afternoon. After Church on Friday it was pretty nails and happy 1/2 hour. There is Bingo on Saturday at 2 p.m. in the activity room and Kaffee Hus from 2-3:30 in the dining room on both Saturday and Sunday. Our Saturday movie matinee at 3 p.m. is "Forget Me Not".
Next week we start out with Newscurrents on Monday morning and card/board games in the afternoon. After all the parties this past week we need Sit & Be Fit on Tuesday morning and Rhythm Band on Tuesday afternoon. The residents will try to Name That Tune on Wednesday and later in the day at Kitchen Capers they will be making individual cinnamon rolls. We also have another Olympic event- Bingo!!! Everyone is good at that! There will be Olympic Basketball on Thursday morning and we will have our Olympic Awards Social and Ceremony in the afternoon. Medals will be presented to winners and participants. Friday brings church in the morning and "real" bingo with the American Legion/VFW on Friday afternoon. We will also have a special "farewell" party for Veterans Service Officer Emily Cost who is moving to Ohio with her husband and family. Best wishes Emily on your new adventure.
Thank you to Mrs Peterson’s 3rd grade class, and the Traill County Traill Blazer 4 H group for resident valentines. Thank you to the Generations 11- 4 H group for the Veterans Valentines!
