Greetings from "the Home" front …

Congratulations to our LMH Olympics medal winners - although everyone here at LMH is always a winner! Our Gold medalists were Dale Wamstad and Kay Kvislen.  Silver Medal went to Duane Nelson and our Bronze medal winner was Terry Anderson.  These residents competed in several events and it was their combined scores that boosted them to the medal awards.  In Meadowlark Lane our Gold Medalist was Dan Walden, Silver medal went to LeRoy Brenna and Jim LeClair was our bronze winner.  All residents that participated in our LMH Olympics received a participation medal. Even our staff participated and Wanda Freadrich won the gold medal, Christian Cantore the silver and Skylar Straight the bronze.  Everyone had a fun time participating and also watching the "real" Olympics on TV.

On Monday we had newscurrents and then cards and board games.  A big thank you to everyone who stops by to visit and spend time with us - the residents really enjoy having company.  There was Sit & Be Fit on Tuesday morning which was good because we had the Auxiliary birthday party in the afternoon.  Bruflat was the hostess and the music and treats were great!   Mary and her quilting gang were here on Wednesday afternoon.  They brought back the puffed pillow project that our residents worked on a few weeks ago - the pillows turned out beautiful and the color combinations that our residents chose for each pillow was perfect.  The Jet Set (a group for our age 70 & under residents) met for supper Wednesday night and they had a good time reminiscing about the 1960s while enjoying hamburgers, FF and onion rings.  Thursday brought reading in the morning with Elaine and then pretty nails and Men's Club in the afternoon.  And there is always bingo on Thursday evenings.  After church on Friday we will be celebrating a very special birthday - Alice Strand is 100!!!!  There will be cake and coffee  at 2 in the dining room to celebrate.  Saturday is Bells with Sandy at 2 p.m. in the activity room and Kaffee Hus from 2-3:30 in the dining room.  Our Saturday movie matinee at 3 p.m. is "When Calls the Heart" based on a Janette Oke book.  It is a story with roots in relationships, self-empowerment and the enduring power of love.  Don't miss it!

Stordahl Church will be here on Sunday with music in the chapel at 2 p.m.  Monday there is newscurrents and Kitchen Cappers in the afternoon.  Not sure what our good residents cooks will be making but will let you know how it turns out next week - am sure whatever they make will be delicious.  Tuesday brings Sit & Be Fit in the morning and Rhythm Band with Elaine Klath in the afternoon.  It is great to have Elaine back this week (while Nancy is on vacation!) - am sure there will be lots of toe tapping and clapping.  We will play card bingo Wednesday morning and Sandy Braaten and the residents will be canvas painting in the afternoon.  She makes it look so easy!!!  There is also reminisce later on.  The Peter Boe 3rd Graders will be here on Thursday to visit their "adopted" grandparents - that is always a fun time and they will be working together on a craft project.  On Friday we will have church in the morning, followed by pretty nails and happy 1/2 hour in the afternoon.

In addition to Alice Strand's birthday on March 2nd, Marion Ronholm also celebrates her birthday the same day (March 2).  Sun Center resident Marlys Hlavinka has a birthday March 4th and Robert Aasen on March 6th.  We have several staff members with early March birthdays.  Wanda Freadrich on March 1st, Marcus Dale (March 4), Jennifer Almanza and Sabrina Amundson (March 7), Jeric Houdek and Kristen Azzato on March 10th.  Happy Birthday to all of you and enjoy your special day!!!

Until next time … a thought for the week … if you act enthusiastic, you become enthusiastic and it spreads like wildfire …
