Greetings from “The Home” front ...

I hope you all had a fun and busy week – we sure did here at LMH with Memorial Day activities, plus graduation ceremonies and our rummage sale.
On Memorial Day we started with Newscurrents in the morning and then enjoyed the sunshine out on the patio with Down Memory Lane.  The residents learned some fun facts about Memorial Day, Arlington National Cemetery and our flag.  We had bingo in the evening.  After Sit & Be Fit on Tuesday and Rhythm Band in the afternoon, several residents helped us set up for Wednesday’s rummage sale.  We had a good turnout and residents, staff and the general public found some great bargains!  Wednesday night our Jet Setters got together to enjoy a supper from Casey’s Pizza.  There was lots of talking and laughter.  Elaine was here for reading on Thursday plus we played the parachute game out in the courtyard.  Men’s Club also met and worked on sanding boards for a craft project we are doing next week.  Thanks guys!!  It’s National Donut Day on Friday!  Oh My!!!  After church we had a Tasty Donut Social and there were lots of donuts to choose from. Later on, some of the ladies also got their nails done during Pretty Nails.  Saturday brings Down Memory Lane at 2 p.m. in the activity room and also Kaffee Hus from 2-3:30 in the dining room.  Our Saturday movie matinee is “Shiloh”.

Next week we begin with newcurrents in the morning and a van trip to see the sights in the afternoon. We also will be playing 5 square and doing Lotion in Motion.  There is Sit & Be Fit on Tuesday followed by Rhythm Band.  We have “real” bingo Wednesday morning and then crafting in the afternoon.  The crafters will be making crosses on those wooden boards that our Men’s Club sanded last week.  These ribbon and burlap crosses are very popular now and we hope to have a few to sell at Pie Day!  There is Men’s Bible Study Thursday morning and a flower arranging demonstration in the afternoon.  If the weather is

This past weekend was graduation for many of our staff members – we would like to acknowledge them.  Adam Edwards received his Master’s Degree from NDSU (Congratulations Adam!); Graduating from Mayville State University were Audrey Beltran, Manih Oshkosh, Megan Rabe and Alexandria Tinoco. Graduating from MPCG were Liliana Derksen, Aimee Gangelhoff, Ashley Held, Jada Nygaard, Taylyn Thompson and Jacquelyn White. Graduating from Hatton High School was Emily Carlson.  Best wishes to all of you and much success in your future!

We have three resident birthdays next week:  Dan Walden (June 2nd) and Hazel Bird (June 8th).  Also, two ladies in Sun Center Apartments are celebrating birthdays: Delores Evans (June 3rd) and Gudrun Harstad (June 6th).  There were no staff birthdays next week.  Happy Birthday to all of you and enjoy your special day!

Our sympathy goes out to RN Travis Surface on the death of his father in May.  Our thoughts and prayers are with you Travis.  We also had two prominent local ladies pass away this past week – Elaine Viken on May 23rd and Eileen “Rusty” McMullen on May 26. Elaine enjoyed all of our activities and especially getting her hair done and nails polished.  Rusty enjoyed our musical events and visiting with friends and family.  Rest in Peace – you will be missed.

Until next time … a thought for the week … Enjoy the little things …
