Luther Memorial Home King Terry A and Queen Dawn L! Congratulations

Greetings from "The Home" front ...

Well the votes are in and the winners are Queen Dawn Ludwig and King Terry Anderson. Congratulations!

Did you smell that wonderful aroma of cinnamon rolls this past Wednesday afternoon??? That was our Kitchen Capper bakers making yummy individual rolls.  What a fun time and oh so good!

This cold weather hasn’t kept our residents from enjoying various activities here at LMH - many have been competing in our very own Olympics - the awards and participation medals were given out on Thursday so I will have a complete list of winners in next week's column (our newspaper deadline is Wednesday!!)  Monday we had newscurrents in the morning and many residents played cards and board games in the afternoon.  We had bingo in the evening.  Sit & Be Fit and Rhythm Band were on the schedule for Tuesday.   On Wednesday morning the residents reminisced with Name That Tune and in the afternoon they baked those yummy cinnamon rolls.  We also had Olympic bingo.  There was Olympic basketball on Thursday morning and our Olympic closing ceremony and social in the afternoon.  The American Legion and VFW are here on Friday afternoon to play "real" bingo with us.  We are also having a special farewell social for Veteran Service Officer Emily Kost right after bingo.  Best wishes to you Emily on your new adventure and a big welcome to our new VSO Rebecca Hodgson. On Saturday there is crosswords at 2 p.m. in the activity room and Kaffee Hus from 2-3:30 in the dining room.  Our Saturday movie matinee at 3 p.m. is "Oliver" - it's a great award winning movie - you don't want to miss it!

Pam will be here on Sunday at 2 p.m. to sing and play her guitar - then on Monday (the last week of February - can you believe it???) we start out with newscurrents in the morning and card & board games in the afternoon.  We have the Auxiliary Birthday party on Tuesday with Bruflat as the hostess. You won’t want to miss as the Hayshakers are playing.  Mary and her quilting gang will be here on Wednesday with a fun project for our crafters.  The Jet Set is also meeting for supper and I hear that hamburgers are on the menu.

We have two resident birthdays next week - Delores Holden on February 24 and Ardis Storebo on February 27th.  There are also two staff members celebrating birthdays next week - Heather Satrom on February 25th and Sue Edwardson on February 27th.  Happy Birthday and best wishes to all of you.

Our sympathy goes out to the friends and family of Angie Gaspers who passed away  February 12th.  Angie enjoyed flowers and gardening and would get a big smile whenever she saw a flower arrangement.  She also liked listening to music and receiving hand massages from staff.  Rest in Peace Angie- you will be missed.
