Greetings from “The Home Front”
Wow! We’re excited – we had no positive results from our last Covid -19 test. Way to go EVERYONE!! We continue to observe social distancing, hand washing, wearing masks and all other necessary precautions to keep your loved ones safe. Visitors are welcome and encouraged to come and visit. Please contact the receptionist to arrange a time.
A big thank you goes out to Buck and Liz Olson (owners of the Top Hat) for the donation of books and puzzles for our residents to enjoy. This was a very welcomed gift.
On Monday we had newscurrents in the morning and then a chance to go outside to play Noodle Ball. There was also independent activities, Face Time and one to one visits. Andrea led Sit & Be Fit on Tuesday and then everyone celebrated Happy ½ hour in the afternoon. Nancy played for Name That Tune on Wednesday morning and in the afternoon, Gary Kaldor entertained the residents with an outdoor concert. Thank you Gary for sharing the beautiful gift of music. We had 5 square on Thursday morning and a resident council meeting in the afternoon. Of course, there was bingo in the evening. Friday is the Opening of the Baseball Season (such as it is) and both residents and staff were decked out in Twins or their favorite baseball team gear. We had both Mass and Church plus Pretty Nails in the afternoon. We have another new activity on Saturday called Junk Drawer Detective – hmm that really piqued my interest! Plus, bingo and a movie. Elaine will read stories on Sunday afternoon.
The residents and staff have been enjoying our Progressive Bingo game – each morning we pick two random numbers and then they check their bingo cards to see if they are a winner.
We would like to welcome ChiChi Hoffmann to our activities staff. ChiChi is originally from the Philippines. Glad to have you on board ChiChi!
Our dining room is now open again for dinner meals. The residents are happy to be able to visit with their table mates as things are slowly starting to get back to “normal”. We still observe Covid 19 precautions.
There is one resident birthday next week – Deanna Marks on July 29th. One Sun Center birthday – Mary Baldock also on July 29th. And several staff members celebrating next week – Julie Winger on July 26th, Rahni Smith and Zachary Pekrul on July 28th and Sharon Domier on July 30th. Happy Birthday to all of you and enjoy your special day.
Until next time … a thought for the week … The steeper the mountain, the harder the climb, the better the view from the finishing line … Make it a Great Week – Stay Safe and PLEASE wear a mask!
