Greetings from “The Home” front …
We would like to say Thank you to Becky Gunderson for knitting a “fidget muff” that can be used by a resident who is restless. The soft texture of the yarn and gadgets to feel help them to relax. It is a great asset for calming busy hands.
Thank you to everyone who has taken time to send cards for our residents or brought treats for staff. Dr. Ostlie brought snacks and soda for all staff – what a great treat and show of appreciation for us.
Since the residents are currently confined to their rooms, the activity staff have been busy coming up with unique ways to entertain them. Besides providing word search games, crossword and jigsaw puzzles, DVDs and magazines, the staff have been using Channel 98 (our inhouse TV station) to read the newspaper or short stories, reminisce down memory lane, do exercises and listen to live concerts. Door to door visits include playing trivia, noodle ball, and enjoying the “pop cart” with sodas and candy. And best of all “Hallway Happy ½ hour”. We also tried our hand at karaoke! I don’t think we will be on American Idol anytime soon!
