The days are going by so fast that I missed National Environmental Services and Housekeeping Week which was September 13-19. A big THANK YOU goes out to the following people who work very hard to keep our facility looking tip top. They have extra responsibilities now with the Covid-19 virus scouring, scrubbing and sanitizing our building in order to keep everyone safe and protected. So, Thank You Jennifer Carr, Jessica Ackley, Tara Anderson, Arlys Balstad, Kayle Balstad, Maria Klabo, Ashley Odden, Tasha Caswell, Bonnie Fisher, Susan Kellett and Mary Turpin - all from our Housekeeping and Laundry crew. Our Maintenance workers include Jeff Chandler, Dean Nelson, Clarence Nelson Jr, Josh Balstad and Robbie Ulrich. These guys are always on call whenever there is a “glitch” in our systems – everything from plumbing, TV repair, telephone connections, painting and yard work. Thank you all for being there when we need you.

We had a busy week with Sit & Be Fit and Noodle Ball on Monday. Of course, Bingo in the evening. Tuesday brought Newscurrents and Rhythm Band. The residents made the cutest little cactus out of rocks during crafts on Wednesday – they look so real! Men’s Club met on Thursday morning. We had a special activity in the afternoon when Paul Swanstrom came to play his accordion and sing for us. The event was held in our outdoor courtyard with everyone practicing social distancing. We also had resident room windows open so they could enjoy the music as well. On Friday there was Mass and Church in the morning followed by Pretty Nails in the afternoon. Saturday brings Weekend Word Search, Sit & Be Fit and Bingo. There is also a Movie Matinee at 3 p.m.

Can you believe that next week is already the end of September!!! Elaine is here for Reminisce on Sunday at 2 p.m. Monday brings Sit & Be Fit in the morning, followed by Table Top Hockey in the afternoon and Bingo in the evening. There is Newscurrents on Tuesday and we will also have a good old-fashioned Singalong in the afternoon. My favorite game is back on Wednesday – Bunco!!!

We have one resident birthday to finish out the month of September – Bill Shahane on September 29th. Two staff members also have birthdays this last week of September – Megan Knudsvig on September 27th and Director of Nursing Nancy Carlson on September 28.

October birthdays include residents Ronald Hanson on October 1st. No Sun Center birthdays this week. Staff members with birthdays are Paige Stroh on October 1st; Jessica Moch, Ryan Carey and Kaitlin Leier on October 3rd. Happy Birthday to all of you and enjoy your special day!

Until next time … a thought for the week … What you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals … Make it a great week – stay safe – and PLEASE wear a mask!
