Greets from "The Home" front...
We have been so blessed by the community here at Luther Memorial Home this week. Last Saturday, Melinda Martin organized an outdoor visit by several people who brought their animals to say “Hi” to our residents. There were horses, dogs and other pets parading by our resident’s windows – there was even a fire truck! The animals especially brought smiles to everyone’s faces. Thank you so much Melinda and your “crew” for doing this!
Our residents, staff and Sun Center tenants also received beautiful handmade wooden ornaments from John and Janice Christianson. Each ornament is a work of art and I truly love the one I chose.
Gary and Linda Kaldor also made ornaments for our residents that included a picture of our therapy dog Scooby. Scooby is a very popular pooch and the residents enjoy having a picture of him nearby. Thank you ALL so very much for thinking of us and making the lives of our residents and staff a little brighter. You truly are the best!
It’s been a busy week here at “The Home”. The hallways and doorways are decorated for Christmas and it is all so very festive. On Monday there was Sit & Be Fit via Channel 98 and in the afternoon the residents wrote letters to their Peter Boe 3rd grade pen pals. Tuesday brought Newscurrents and Christmas Name that Tune. It was time for the Cookie Sampler on Wednesday afternoon – and what a selection we had!! Thank you to the staff members who brought cookies for our residents to enjoy – there were lots of yummy varieties to choose from. Pastor Deb was here on Thursday for Bible Study and the ladies got their nails done in the afternoon. There was virtual Mass on Friday along with Church on Channel 98. In the afternoon we had a great time with Hallway Christmas Bingo. Saturday brings Sit & Be Fit and creative writing.
Next week will be busy with Christmas activities. We start out on Monday with Sit & Be Fit and in the afternoon the residents will be able to decorate cookies – good thing we have exercises in the morning. Tuesday brings newscurrents and Christmas Choir – both on channel 98. You better watch out – you better not cry ‘cause Santa is making a visit on Wednesday!!! He will be delivering gifts to everyone who is both naughty and nice. On Thursday (Christmas Eve) we will have a special Church Service in the morning and then in the afternoon the Angel Tree gifts will be passed out. These Angel Tree Gifts are from the members of our community and again we appreciate your taking the time to remember our residents here at LMH. On Christmas Day (Friday) there is the reading of the Christmas Story on Channel 98 and the residents will make a Gratitude Garland. Even with this pandemic we have much to be thankful for.
Saturday December 26th is a special birthday for resident Carol Moen – she will be 100 years young! Carol enjoys coming to the activity room to read the paper and to play Rumikube with another resident. Happy Happy Birthday Carol!! May you be blessed with many more! Stuart Neset in Sun Center Apts has his birthday on December 20th. There are also several staff members with birthdays next week – Theresa Nelson on December 20th, Vonda Gunderson and Jeff Chandler on December 24 and Elyssa Heppner on December 25th. Happy birthday to all of you and enjoy your special day.
Our sincere sympathy goes out to Activity Assistant Elaine Aune on the passing of her husband Floyd. Floyd was a well-known member of the Mayville community and he will be missed by all. Rest in peace Floyd.
Until next time … a thought for the week … The three C’s in life are Choice, Chance and Change. You must make the Choice to take the Chance if you want anything to Change… Make it a great week – wear your mask, wash your hands and please social distance.
