Greetings from “The Home” front …
We are excited to be moving into Phase 2 of the Covid-19 recommendations. That means more opportunities for our residents to be able to visit with family members. We also continue with regular testing of our staff and residents to prevent any outbreaks.
Our activities continue with events in the activity room and on Channel 98 in the resident’s room. After newscurrents on Monday, we had a new activity when Nancy led a discussion “Name That Plant”. She showed examples of various plants and then discussed their care. We also had Bingo in the evening. There was Sit & Be Fit on Tuesday and Rhythm Band in the afternoon. Chaplain Deb is back and led Bible Study on Wednesday morning, it is sure good to see her again! The Crafty Ladies did a craft project with Molly Wednesday afternoon. Thursday brought Happy Half Hour and Bingo in the evening. There was Mass and Church led by Chaplain Deb on Channel 98 on Friday morning. Just in time for the holiday, the ladies got their nails done during Pretty Nails on Friday afternoon. Happy 4th of July on Saturday!!! We had a contest to see who was dressed the most patriotic on Saturday. I will let you know in next week’s column. We sure miss not being able to take the van and go to the famous Hatton Parade – another casualty of Covid 19. Instead we will be playing a game of Picture This and then try our luck at Bingo in the afternoon. Molly will be here on Sunday for Down Memory Lane at 2 p.m. She usually brings some good junk to talk about!
The residents have been enjoying going outside in the courtyard on these sunny days. Lots of opportunity to visit with each other and staff.
Congratulations to Resident Bill Shahane who won our latest round of Progressive Bingo!! We draw two numbers every day until someone Bingos.
Also, congratulations to Rachel Balstad who will become the new Unit Manager for Meadowlark Lane and “B” Wing when LeeAnn Strand retires on July 15th. We will miss LeeAnn but know that Rachel will do a good job.
Best Wishes to Ilene Larson who is retiring from the Laundry Department. Ilene did a great job and will be missed. Enjoy your retirement Ilene!
There are no residents, sun center residents or staff with birthdays next week! Wow – I think that is a first time!
Our sympathy to the friends and family of Hazel Bird who passed away June 27th. Hazel had such a sweet smile. She enjoyed listening to music, visiting with staff and hearing stories read aloud. Rest in Peace, Hazel. You will be missed.
Until next time … a thought for the week … Things turn out best for the people who make the best out of the way things turn out ….
